There are over six billion people in the world, what the hell do you expect?

Citing the existence of more than one poodle still doesn't prove that all dogs are poodles.  The fact that a few Texans are being indicted for fraud still dosen't prove that all rich people are greedy.  What it proves, obviously, is that all Texans commit fraud.  So let's hate all Texans.

Well, I already do, but that's a completely different issue.  [:D]

You don't find it odd that all these fraud cases keep coming up?  I mean really, I mentioned two, but I could easily fill a whole page.

MarsBonfire -> RE: Why the GOP is unraveling. (4/17/2009 5:18:27 AM)

Like Dracula or Jason Vorhees, huh? Well, at least the GOP has an accurate self image...

(This would explain the GOP's anti-sex policies, come to think of it. And why it wants to suck the life out of all the villiage folk, thus favoring the aristocratic rich...)

- fast reply -

Woah. I posted this to share an opinion piece by a journalist/blogger. It's an interesting analysis. It doesn't claim to be the universal troof, guys. For those spewing venom and oozing poison: get a grip. It's only a fucking political party, for crying out loud. The level of emotional involvement by GOP supporters is absolutely over-the-top ridiculous. Your guy lost, get over it, recoup, regroup, and get your act together: you might do better next time. Just get rid of the extremists: they do you no favours.

Ahh, the delusions and denial of the partisan...   Like this isn't a face of the undead.

Hmmmm... shouldn't you be working at reconstructing?

Dang Rich - why'd you go and do that. I've got lunch in a few hours!

Wasn't fear and loathing the central component of the most recent Dem resurrection?

kittinSol -> RE: Why the GOP is unraveling. (4/17/2009 7:30:46 AM)

No, fear and loathing are specialties of the other camp, dear.

No, I don’t find it odd at all, given the nature of human beings.  Also bear in mind that there is a reason why you don’t see any airplane takes off, flies, and lands safely stories in the media.  It is the same reason you will be hard pressed to find any company manages its’ finances legally and ethically stories.

Except that if we had as many airline crashes as we've had corporate fraud we would all be riding trains now.

Enron, Worldcom, Adelphia, Madoff, Stanton, etc., etc., etc..

And those are just a handful of the most blatant, obviously criminal offenders.

We can easily go on to discuss the lower-level "legal" scams like AIG taking our tax dollars to give executive bonuses and JP Morgan Chase using those same bailout dollars to purchase two new jets for its fleet.

A fascinating article in the Huffy on how the modern conservative movement is built upon a fundamentally incoherent ideology. Willl the GOP emerge from its ruins, or will the five main currents of 'conservative' thinking - libertarian conservatism, libertarianism, old fashioned fiscal conservatism, national security conservatism, and prejudice, all at odds with one another, ensure it remains divided forever after?

"It took a charismatic leader to bring [the GOP] together (Ronald Reagan), a tacit agreement among its coalition partners to give each other what they wanted, and a message machine to start selling the idea that that there was coherence to a conservative "philosophy" that was anything but coherent.

Modern conservatism wove together five discrete strands and interest groups that couldn't coexist. What is remarkable is how well it held together despite the fact that those strands were actually difficult to interweave."

Political movements run in 15 - 30 year cycles.

Welcome to the Democrat cycle.

Yup. Let's hope it lasts long enough to repair the damage, and build up the US's strength again,  before the malignant virus that is the GOP attacks the country again...

Defensive, O59???  How do you figure?  That was the most ridiculous bit of bullshit I've ever seen from the one who made me laugh (which is saying something), and, if I was so bored as to engage with the comment, you would be my opening argument.
