• Bush approved use of insects in al-Qaida interrogations: memo

The Bush Administration approved the use of "insects placed in a confinement box" during the interrogation of top Al Qaeda official Abu Zubaydah, according to a 2002 document that President Obama declassified for release Thursday.

The legal memorandum for the CIA, prepared by Assistant Attorney General Jay Bybee, reviewed 10 enhanced techniques for interrogating Zubaydah, and determined that none of them constituted torture under U.S. criminal law.

The techniques were: attention grasp, walling (hitting a detainee against a flexible wall), facial hold, facial slap, cramped confinement, wall standing, stress positions, sleep deprivation, insects placed in a confinement box, and waterboarding.

At this point I'd only be surprised if a "good cop" existed in this whole good cop/satanic cop routine they had going.

Obviously, at least one of these bastards was familiar with 1984 . Just replace the rats with some creepy crawly and Bob's your uncle.

No surprise. After all, that Constitution thing is just a silly piece of paper, right? Doesn't mean a thing to a Real American.

You know, I keep asking this question, will you give a damn when another country uses this as justification for treating our soldiers the same way, maybe your son, daughter, or grandchildren?

Foreign nationals on foreign soil enjoy Constitutional rights now?

Since when.

That was the whole game though wasn't it?

Keep them in Cuba where we can ignore our own laws.

Name the last time we went to war with any nation that respected human rights. You can't do it, it never happened, not once - not ever.

So we're supposed to play by the so-called rules, we should have treated the eleven terrorists who had information about ongoing attacks as if they were royalty.

"Are you comfortable enough? Is there anything we can do to make you more comfortable?"

Bullshit.

It does.

Instead of claiming ignorance of the law,why not be honest and just admit you(and the rest of the neo-cons) don`t really care about the law.

That's pretty much my take on it too.

Well yes, I can.

The Germans actually treated our prisoners well in both world wars, as well as Italy in the second.

That's not the point though.

Do we want to maintain a moral high ground or do we want to stoop to the level of the terrorists?

Sanity -> RE: Bush Approved Use of Insects in al-Qaeda Interrogations (4/16/2009 8:21:38 PM)

Not ignoring anything. Those terrorist planners and leaders weren't citizens, were not entitled to being read their Miranda rights (which didn't exist for them), they were not entitled to lawyers.

Under the rules of Geneva most of them were likely entitled only to a bullet to the head for being illegal combatants, which in my opinion terrorist planners such as they fully deserve.

Sure you don`t care. No biggie as far as you`re concerned.

However,in the fight against terrorism(the real one,not the bush one),we need our allies and their cooperation to be affective.

But that too is something conservatives don`t really care about.

So you`re overruling the SCOTUS now? Impressive.[8|]

Stick to pretending you didn`t support bush.
