Oh, well done, beeble; most amusing.  Perhaps if Peon and I really hit it off, he'll become my groom-io.

Awwwww, that's so sweet. [:)]

beeble.

P.S.: Careful, Peon -- she might want you to be her Tranny-o.

I'm trying, but currently failing, to work out why that would be a worry . . .

Why, PforH, a hitherto undiscovered side to you.  Does this mean I'll need to bring extra lingerie on my next visit?

PeonForHer -> RE: Eduated Subs?!#****! (4/19/2009 3:55:00 PM)

Um, yes.  Wearing it's not a problem (falls into the huge department of 'who cares, so long as she likes it' for me), but going out to buy it would be a little more of a challenge for me.

I hate Midsummer Night's Dream worse---where the dad would rather see his daughter dead than happy.  Go Patriarchy! [>:]

LAgirlsub -> RE: Eduated Subs?!#****! (4/19/2009 8:25:08 PM)

Well...it just depends doesn't it? (smile - I like to write out the word smile and only sometimes use an emoticon because that's how I've always tried to direct my tone in an email).

I'm also a writer, actually a screenwriter, so it's about getting the visual image across well, not so much a focus on the written word.

So to the OP...I do try to not focus on the writing skills of the writer; however if it's clearly such poor basic writing, then it does become obvious about their intellect. And as you probably know, having advanced degrees doesn't necessarily equal either a good communicator or someone you or I might see as intelligent.

I have an MA but so what? My year studying abroad in England had a much more dramatic effect on the person I am today. Maybe have a few standard questions for your potential subbies that you want clear answers to and evaluate them that way? Just a thought.

AlexandraLynch -> RE: Eduated Subs?!#****! (4/20/2009 2:38:14 PM)

My view is simply, why wouldn't you want to present yourself as well as possible to someone you'd like to play with? You wouldn't go out on a date without a shower, so why send an email of several paragraphs with a ton of spelling errors in it?

I do have a dyslexic husband, so I am compassionate on the issue, but will drop someone like a hot potato who suggests that since we are communicating in email or IM that constant text-message style writing is therefore proper and the only way to write. Um, no. I want to understand what you're saying. Write it out.

dsl69us -> RE: Eduated Subs?!#****! (4/20/2009 4:08:20 PM)

According to me, bad grammar and spelling is a sign of either carelessness or maybe a lack of respect.... i.e. either i am like this and i don't care how people conceive me as or i don't think you are worth my time to make sure my spellings are all right...
Also, education is seen in the way you interact with people... not by just writing so...

[;)][BTW, i love dots too...][8|]

maybe? or they don't know how to use the damn spell checker? (speaking of which, the typo in My topic was on purpose)!! LOL

it just always gets to Me, when they are talking about how smart they are, the spelling is so poor!

to add to it, why do subs say, " I can't wait to meet you"... then go poof?? it drives Me nuts!

Not only do you have a typo in your Topic, but there is also a grammatical error in your original post. Not to be picky in all.

PeonForHer -> RE: Eduated Subs?!#****! (4/20/2009 4:39:45 PM)

The typo was deliberate, MM

SlaveBlutarsky -> RE: Eduated Subs?!#****! (4/20/2009 6:16:37 PM)

Just so there's no confusion, the misspellings in my post earlier were intentional as well, lest the Grammar Police bring the ruckus my way.

Yeah, Shakespeare was SUCH a hack.

Yeah, Shakespeare was SUCH a hack.

Considering that most of his plays were either cribbed direct from other authors or a ripped straight from the pages of crappy ol' Hollinshed? Yeah, I'd say that shoe fits pretty well.

Whatever, I'm clear that The Taming of the Shrew is a huge male dominant wank fantasy. No need to rush in to defend the Bard, I'm sure my opinion of one obnoxious play is less troubling to his ghost than having his work butchered by thousands of mumbling junior high school students every year.

mummyman321 -> RE: Eduated Subs?!#****! (4/20/2009 7:43:42 PM)

Peon,
The typo in the Title was intended. I was not refering to that error. I am talkling about the use of the word "been" makes no grammatical sense and you have to read the sentence 5 times to make sure what she was try to say. I am by no means an English major. There is also a 3rd error, but I am guessing many missed it.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Eduated Subs?!#****! (4/21/2009 7:05:10 AM)

Wow, I always thought you were literate but just a radical man-hating feminist.  Now I see you're not particularly literate either.  Please inform us which other authors Shakespeare "cribbed" from.  My database isn't finding any other hits for "Alas, poor Yorick."  And if you've actually read Holinshed, you'd know that Shakespeare didn't take anything "straight" from him.  Here, there are actually a few sites online that reproduce Holinshed's version of the Leir story.  If you think King Lear was taken "straight" from that, you're not a reader.

funny how that one obnoxious play, as well as his other works, have endured for all these years.

favesclava -> RE: Eduated Subs?!#****! (4/21/2009 7:19:17 AM)

Although  literate in two languages , I suck at typing. Most posts are for fun and a few errors are forgiven, unless you state your superiority in the English language. Or... you complain of others use of the language.First make sure you dot your i and cross your ts.(I tried writing your is ,then your i's ,but just didnt look right. Please dont flame. LOL.)
p.s.Luckily his slaves dont have to pass an English Competency test to qualify.

Sorry, just seeking clarification ... (yes, I like dots too [:)] ) I didn't think that was in Midsummer Night's Dream- which was a comedy about the fairies getting things mixed up. I was wondering which play you were thinking of? A Winter's Tale maybe? Although, I can't remember the details sufficiently well enough to remember if that is the case. There are several plays that it could be- Romeo and Juliet sort of fits that.

well wishes,

anna
