I think anyone....dom/sub/slave should be kind enough to send a response be it positive or negative. i find manners to be very important

To an extent I agree, now so far I have replied to all mail that has arrived. Not had one yet to which I was able to respond positivly, but I have replied.

Where I am likely to not reply is where someone has obviously made no real effort. I got one where the total mail was "Good morning" for instance, which would be fine if they where just trying to draw my attention to them and had a decent amount of info in their profile, but the profile was equaly lacking in effort.

But anyone who has made an effort with their mail then yes, I consider some reply to be good manners even if it is just a polite rejection.

First post = a complaint and a common one, duplicating a number of existing notestreams.

I suppose the original poster listens carefully to every telemarketer that calls his home or every streetside bum who yells "Hey, buddy". Much email, particularly to women, is the intellectual equivalent to such a telemarketing call or yell.

Tantalus42 -> RE: MANNERS (1/31/2006 6:29:36 AM)

I find myself having to agree with John, primarily because I've seen the kinds of responses my wife's profile gets at various locations. Most are not worth the strain on her fingers to type a reply. She's a good girl and really does try to reply to everyone, but often I find myself telling her to not bother replying to someone because their approach frankly was pathetic.

Now, if you've taken the time to research someone's profile and read what they want, feel you are close enough and compatible enough that they would be interested, and write them a nice, long, detailed message about yourself... and then they don't reply... well I can see how that would be a bit upsetting. In most cases, though, if you make that kind of effort they will reply, even if it's just to politely say "no thank you." If they don't, that's life and part of being online. Take it for what it's worth (nothing) and just move on.

How right he is...again!

Arpig -> RE: MANNERS (1/31/2006 6:53:23 AM)

since this topic is well covered, I will make a slightly different approach...here are the basic criteria we use when determining if somebody gets a response from my pet or not.

1. RTFP!! (Read the f**king Profile). Her profile states she is owned, and that exchanging emails is fine, any requests to chat should be directed through myself...if you email her asking to chat, or some inquiry aimed at an unattached sub...you get no response. If you can't bother to take the time to read the profile (not a large one) then why should she bother taking the time to reply.

2. Spelling & grammar. if u kant spel u get Xed. We speak English & French, and we expext to be written to in one of those two languages. Of course if neither is your first language, then errors are to be expected, and the odd typo is as well (reading my posts will clearly show that I understand the concept of typos[;)]), but if you write to me in "netese" or "cool=dude-chat-speak" or whatever the hell you call that drivel, its a no go. We are literate and expect the same.

3. Relevance. Her profile states what she is and is not seeking
quote:

Actively Seeking:

Dominant Women

Switch Women

Dom/Dom Couples

Femdom Couples

Friends Only

where in this does it say she is seeking a dominant male to serve, if you are a dominant male and you approach her with the intent to "recruit" her, you will likely get no reply or a scathing one from me if you are a right jerk-off in your approach). If. however, you approach her with the offer of advice or information, or with intent to make friends, you will.

4. Common Sense. If you do not get the response you hoped for the first time, you are unlikely to get it the 2nd, or 3rd, or 14th time either. We had one person write asking where she was located. She replied that I had instructed her to not reveal that information, beyond a very general area. he wrote back about 10 times asking the same thing, she repied a few times, getting a little less polite eachtime, until she just gave up in disgust and stopped replying...he wrote a few more times, asking...you guessed it, where she was located, or more specifically "were u in oNtario?"

That's it, and I suspect the vast majority of people on here, male or female; dom, sub, or switch, would agree that these criteria are a bare minimum to generate a reply other than a quick "no thanks" if any

cloudboy -> RE: MANNERS (1/31/2006 7:58:42 AM)

I promise I'll respond if you write to me.

Nicely said Mr Warren.

LadyMorgynn -> RE: MANNERS (1/31/2006 8:24:44 AM)

I send a reasonably polite response to *almost* everyone. Even the "i want 2 b ur slave i have a cam IM me" approach will get at least a "Please read My profile." Trollers, those employing a crude, graphically descriptive approach, and nude photos will get deleted and blocked, with no reply and no second chance.

I was brought up to be polite. Even My orders to My slave may at times be couched in such terms as to sound like a civil request... but it is nonetheless an Order, and to be obeyed as such! Not that I can't bark out orders like a drill sergeant when I like ;)

fergus -> RE: MANNERS (1/31/2006 8:57:16 AM)

Well, I ALWAYS send a polite reply!

Of course, being a male on this site, I am thrilles to death to get a PM ;)

If I get one or two a week I consider it a wonderful thing and practically gush with gratitude :D

If I were female, it might be different, I hear stories about the womenfolk on this site getting hundreds of PMs a day!

Who could respond to all of that?

fergus

Arpig,

To use the terms of a juvenile friend of ours... "Man you are one cool Dude", or as he will send it on line to me "Man U R 1 kewl Dude".. Damn that means I cant message you in Latin, Hebrew (ancient) or any of the "Dead" languages I have a little knowledge in sheesh... My French is as bad as my Russian when I went Da instead of Niet to a georgious, curvacious busty Russian/Jewess and damned nearly got raped for my troubles.....[:D] Keep the posts going, I enjoy them.

classykindasassy -> RE: MANNERS (1/31/2006 7:09:51 PM)

Here's a NEWSFLASH...

I did not know what the Bulk Mail folder was for on collarme. I just opened it today and saw it was the repository for all that did not fit my search criteria. As I examined its contents, I saw about 3 of several hundred that merited a response. They were from people who had responded to posts I have on the forum.

I say what I want, very clearly. If people don't meet that, I don't owe them a damn thing. Even if they do, I don't owe them. No response IS a response. As it happens, I do give a courteous reply to those who obviously took the time to comply with the directives. But not because I owe them. Because I am nice.

Littlepita -> RE: MANNERS (1/31/2006 7:22:36 PM)

I respond to almost all of mine. Although, I don't always think of of my responses as being polite. They are often educational so to speak. I us RTFP a lot! I do it in a nicer language of course. That is the polite part of me. [;)]

windy135 -> RE: MANNERS (1/31/2006 7:31:17 PM)

I almost always return emails.. but sometimes I'll skip one that was only 3 syllables long anyway. But if someone puts thought into I ALWAYS return the message.

Arpig -> RE: MANNERS (2/1/2006 8:42:08 PM)

Well you can write me in hebrew, latin, Norwegian or spanish (actually if its Spanish, make it a voice mail, I love the sound of spanish, and actually understand a bit of it, but not really enough to carry on a converstaion), but be prepared for a very confused answer at best.... [;)]
