My teenager was listening to music the other day, and through her door I kept hearing this very strange beat. Finally, I asked her what the song was and she played it for me.
Now, I like classical and Jazz; very rarely do I deviate from that music genre.
This group though blew me away.

Have you ever come across a music sound that totally just blew you away?

Welcome to Dark Wave.

I feel that way every time I listen to anything remotely Goth.  I also love Celtic and Rai.

Ska, and ska-inspired alt/emo-rock has been my latest obsession with popular music... Something about it makes me want to get up and dance.

Yes, KMFDM and Rammstein both blew me away on first hearing them.

Don't know KMFDM (but I will shortly), but as a 50 year old male....who was introduced to Rammstein 3 years ago by a spectacular woman....I told her "we'll call that 'angry music'....if you listen carefully....it's unbelievable...incredibly intricate.

Great stuff.

Aubrey Park... (steampunk)

Michael Stearns... (I suppose you'd have to call him new wave... but check out his score for Barakka, and his album "Encounter")

Dead Can Dance.... but I think we all know about them...

Eat Static... one of the seminal "techno" bands... but still one of the best.

And I also listen to NPR's "Music From the Hearts of Space" regularly... first, it has some of the best damn scene music you could record free off the air... and secondly, some of the musicians that are showcased there have become favorites over the years.
