How about support for your local politicians?

Examples come from local London borough councils...

How about the London borough with Labour councillors accusing others of having their 'snouts in the trough' who was caught for .. erm.. *cough* a fraud enquiry?

A fish and chip lunch for the guy who identified himself as 'the Libyan foreign minister'?

Come to Wandsworth where you will get all the help on noise pollution as long as it happens during office hours.

'You are a tosser..' 'Boil your head..' Yes, pick up tips from the Conservatives on how to win voters.

Saving £100,000 on pensioner's dinners so you can spend £128,000 on one cooked by a celebrity chef?

In East London you can now buy a planning application and get a Tesco one free as well.

In Hackney you can be rehoused within six months on the basis of a 45p postal order.

In North London there's a Director of Legal Services who doesn't have a legal qualification.

Have they frozen your Council Tax? Expect to pay £2.5 million more in Housing Benefit in North London while they keep homeless families longer in bed and breakfast.

In South London you can avoid a judicial review just by applying the latest planing application dodge.

I've got a city councilwoman who was elected on the strength of an hispanic surname whose first motion on the council was to ban any city business being conducted in a language other than English.

A former State Assemblywoman whose new law restricting where convicted sex offenders can live resulted in MORE sex offenders being forced to move into her district.

A personal injury attorney turned small-city mayor trying to pass blatantly discriminatory laws, and insisting that the county they contract with for services will have to both enforce the unconstitutional laws, and eat the resulting lawsuits.

Thousands of acres of land taken by eminent domain decades ago to build an airport, that was never built, being offered up for solar power facilities to the highest bidder.

A subsidized housing program that will pay far more for the rents on local housing than people who work in the local area could ever afford to pay.

Of course, when it comes to the local stuff, I get pretty active.

So politicians are the same the world over.
