The thread going in the s/s forum had me wondering. I plan to ask Sir what his feelings are on the subject, but I suspect his perspective will be similar to mine, and that perhaps, his perspective is a large part of how I got mine. (Before I met him, spanking was something adults did, mostly due to an inability to cope as parents.) So I thought I would ask around, for different perspectives. How many do like/ask for spankings? Do you feel there is a difference in the word used as a descriptive toward the action of hitting, ie… spank, beat, flog…? Other thoughs on the topic? Curiously, Kim

Beating , to me sounds non-consentual, as in something done in a dark alley, aligned with being relieved of wallet and watch. Spanking is fun, and can be severe. Flogging - although Sir can make a flogging hurt like hell, it is most often a massage - compared to how he uses his canes. As i said to him once - "A flogging is all sound and fury, signifying nothing". Hehe - it was at that point he went to his braided flogger, and made me yell! Teach me for opening my mouth.[:D] In conversation with my Sir, a lot of how i perceive things is the way he says them. If he said he was going to beat me senseless, and he had that grin on his face , i would also have a big smile on my face, because i would know that we were going to have "fun". Its all in the inflection and body language.[:)]

couple of days ago i bought my first ever toy!!! - a leather paddle (misst warned me off the wooden ones cos they grow splinters and the ones with holes)., i want to try it out and i have told Sir that i would like to try it out. for me its not about asking for a spanking perse, as much as its asking for anything, im bad at asking for physical help in terms of a physical favour and this falls into that category for me. so i have never asked though ive often wanted to and in my very early days id sometimes brat out to get one. i dont do that anymore. so the closest ive got so far is to buying the toy. for me, thats asking for a spanking [:D]

Oh man I go all shy and goofy, it is SO SO hard for me to ask him. Instead of saying the actual words (which turn me into a blushing stuttering idjit..) I tell him that I feel all tangled up inside. [:)] He then will talk to me for a few minutes, I think to gauge my needs? Not sure.. but he then decides if I need his hand or the flogger. Um .. did it just get really warm in here?? I tend to instigate fights more than spankings and they end up being full on, anything goes type of fights. Not sure why I do it cos I always end up getting hurt [:)] Perhaps I just like aggressive foreplay!

If you don’t mind sharing. LOL You first have to understand that my late husband and I were a bit off the wall when compared to others. We did not 'practice BDSM'. He never tied me up, we never planned a single 'scene', we never 'played'. Ours was basically a very intense and dark kind of relationship. Physically, and mentally, both of us were extremely abusive with each other; I knew this when I met him and it was what I wanted and needed from him. When I say I like pain; I mean I like being punched, kicked, cut ( yes, he had cut me in fights before ); I have had bones broken, stitches, burns....you name it, we pretty much did it to each other. So, in answer to your question, it would go something like this "Where's dinner?" "It's going to be late today, I had to go to the doctor" At this, he would throw me into the wall, which would cause me to punch him, which would cause him to kick me, which would end with the two of us getting into a fist fight before I finally backed down and apologized for dinner being late [8D]

Curiously, Kim A spank is a spank.......hand on bum ..It can be really painful and his hand has been splattery with blood. No, I'd never ask for one ..but he seems to know when one is a fairly good idea. Beat ?..... I'd probably say that would be cane or sjambok.........Flog would be ..well, a flogger. Overall , it all amounts to a bit of a beating. agirl

My parents didn't spank us, I have never spanked mine. Misbehavior in the car was met by being a captive audience to a Hank Sr cd of his yodeling songs. They learned to behave if they wanted to choose the music. Spanking for us is fun. I'm usually up for one, up for play. But it's hard for me to ask for it so I use cues. A t shirt that says brat on it, tickling him, small bratty things that show I'm instigating play. The only time I have said I needed one to feel better with the world, he overruled me and said I was beyond what that could do. My fault for not realizing how bent out of shape I was until too late.

For Master and I spanking has two meanings. If I'm told, "over my lap little one" then I know i'm in trouble and about to get a spanking/lecture at the same time (the lecture is the worse part) but there are also times when I feel this "drive" to feel his hand on me and so I'll politely lay myself over his lap in position without saying a word and he'll decide if it's time or not. Flogging is done during a scene, it's erotic for me. I love his rabbit fur flogger. Beating is something I've experienced at another's hands and not something that I'm comfortable with. It's the meaning, the intent when Master or anyone for that matter hits, the body movements, the facial expressions... the eyes and voice intonation tell you a lot too. I wouldn't be happy if Master beat me but I have asked for a "take down" before where we both go at one another full force, no holds barred. He's stronger than me so it's more about the need to be physically controled and over taken.
