Just something for all of us to blame on the Croatians, so the Serbs aren't the only ones that hate them.

I don't really know the original purpose (I've read a couple different theories), but the effect of the necktie is clear. It inhibits bloodflow to the male's brain, thereby reducing male cognitive function, while at the same time increasing blood flow to the genitals (it has to go somewhere). Just look at the most prominent suit-wearing males, business leaders and politicians, and it's obvious that they think with their dicks.

I couldn't tell you the why, Termy, but I do know that the Jerry Garcia brand make it a lot easier for me to put one on four days a week.

LOL, yes! I haven't been wearing suits for work lately, but used to do it all the time. Sometimes it felt like required prison camp attire, and Jerry Garcia definitely helped my frame of mind.

Your reference LINK (especially the ending paragraphs) is EXACTLY on target. The Tie is nothing more than the symbol of submission to those who control your life. That is it in a nutshell. The Hangman refers to his rope as a 'Neck tie'.
It is the same as the catholic crucifix. We are told it is a symbol of the love of God and the Christ being the scarificial lamb of God. That is a lie, a subtifudge to get the masses to accept the symbol of the crucifix. In actuality it, the crucifix, is the symbol of a governing authoritave power structure having power and control of life and death over it's subjects. You may as well wear a model of the Gillotine around your neck.

The Roman symbol of governmental power is the Faces (spelling?)...being; reeds encircled and tied by a red ribbon, protruding from the reeds two ax heads. This was, and still is the actual symbol of state and government. The reeds symbolize 'the people'; the red ribbon symbolizes; 'The people being bound by blood'; the two ax heads (sometimes shown with just one) symbolizes 'authoritive power over life and death of the people (those reeds bound by the blood). It was carried before every Roman parade, into battle etc. The Italian Fascists used it as their primary symbol during WW2, the Nazi also used the symbol, but it was superceeded by the Swatsika. It was a symbol used on the dime currency of the USA, and...prominately now displayed in a wall sculptural relief from about 8 ft. in height on either side of the 'US Speaker of the House's podium'.

Symbols abound everywhere in modern society, one just has to be educated as to their meanings.

In paintings, the old masters, and the ancients; they are with certain symbolism, messages conveyed to the viewer, why are you intrigued by a painting...search what symbols could be hidden trerein.

The 'mandain' neck tie is a symbol.

The tie is the most evident sartorial symbol of masculinity because it is like an arrow that hangs from the neck and that is pointed at the guy's wedding tackle and other family jewels.
"The stuff is *down there*."

Those 80's guys with those narrow ties.

Whereas the bow tie says....look at my neck?

There is a link between wearing a tie and eye pressure related diseases so beware.

Most men are warmer body temp then woman.

Where do you get these things from, Hunky? Women are in fact better at conserving the heat, because of their more evenly distributed fat layer: this allows us to pull the blood back to our principle organs when needed, which drags it away from our hands and feet. We're warm, tropical little things, we are. Guys are big snow oafs, on the other hand. So there goes your theory: POUF.

Speaking of which, guys: please don't do polyester ties, I don't care how kinkily good it sounds. Silk threads only. Thank you.

Remember the beautiful knit ties that were "oh so cool" a decade or three ago?
