(the author of A Thousand Splendid Suns is Khaled Hosseini, the same author of the Kite Runner. I got out my copy of "A Thousand...' for the author's name).

I've been watching a lot of Masterpiece Theatre lately so I'm currently reading David Copperfield -Dickens. Next up will be Sense and Sensibility -Jane Austen.

I always love these topics.  I'm currently reading:

Coldness and Cruelty by Deleuze
re-reading Kafka's The Trial
the poetry of Stephen Hart Crane
WS Burroughs The Soft Machine

All of these are excellent.  Coldness and Cruelty is an especially good study in sadism and masochism, and it dovetails nicely with reading Kafka's relentlessly masochistic gestalt.

I just finished "Everything I Want to do is Illegal" by Joel Salatin.  Its about the struggles of Polyface Farm, the author's family farm, and the conflict between the "industrial food system and the local artisanal neighbor-friendly farmer-entrepreneur."  Great read for anyone curious/involved in the local food movement.

I'm now starting "First They Killed My Father"  by Loung Ung.  A memoir of a child's life during the reign of Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge and how it personally affected the author.

Once the Dirk Pitt books sort of petered out...I lost interest in Cussler .He has his formula....and after awhile it just got old,as did Dirk and good old Al.

I LOVED the Dirk Pitt books and you're right about the formula. I started a Dan Brown habit right after that.

yep...something i have done that has yet to fail

Go to Amazon.com and bring up the title of the Tom Clancy book you are reading. It will bring up the book info but will also give a list of recommendations ("Customers who bought this book also bought...").

I have actually bought a few additional books that way and have yet to be disappointed.

Other than these lovely boards, what books or blogs are you reading currently that you want to share?

*sighs*  I miss reading.  It's been so long since I've had time, I'm not sure I remember how to sit back and enjoy it.
