Bruises for a Dr appt. - 4/23/2009 8:32:09 AM

Status: offline 		Well, we screwed up.  I have an appt with a specialist tomorrow (my first time with him).  M and I got carried away the other day and totally forgot about this.  I now have two good sized bruises, one on each breast.  Turns out this is a cardiologist, so there is no way I can keep them from his view.  We did this over this past weekend, and I was hoping they would fade by this Friday..but they haven't.

We are normally very careful when I know I have anything like this coming up, it was a slip up on both our parts.  I am honestly not sure what to tell the Dr if he asks.  I don't want to get into my relationship details with him, but I don't want him to think I am abused either.

Has anyone got any advice on how I can handle this?

Status: offline 		Seriously, just tell the Dr the truth....YES its a little embarrassing (i've had to do this LOL) but i've not had any trouble from my Dr by just telling the truth.

Status: offline 		I worked in a large trauma center for many years; medical professionals can smell BS from 100 feet even when upwind.  Just tell him the truth; trust me he has seen and heard far more interesting stories that what is going to come out of your mouth. 

Our hospital had quite the inventory of stories concerning kinky sessions gone awry; after we stopped laughing we fixed the problem and got on with our work.  Most medical folk are not that judgmental (even the nuns than ran our hospital were pretty cool about it).

Status: offline 		Be upfront and tell them about the bruising before they ask. Just be honest - they've heard it before. I tell every doctor, including my frikkin' dentist, that I may come in one day with bruises that look odd. If you want to be super-prepared, you could bring a copy of "When Someone You Loves is Kinky" and point them to the chapter aimed at health professionals treating a kinky person.

Status: offline 		Some doctors will report it as abuse anyway, depending on the dr and what state you live in.

My answer was contingent on this not being an emergency and an alternative apppointment being feasible.
Now I am wondering about the wisdom of "playing" when in "need" of seeing a cardiologist.....I mean if the ticker is malfunctioning perhaps strenuous activities are not the way to go in the first place....But I do take your point CalifChick and do agree ,our L/S choices should not ,from a false sense of embarresment keep us from seeking needed medical treatments or consultations.

Status: offline 		Just smile and say "they were worth it, we had a truly spectacular time".

BTW you don't have to have a heart problem to need to see the cardiologist. I needed a stress test prior to both my cataract surgeries to prove I could handle general anesthesia if it happened that they needed to put me under. I have weird ekgs so I'm always sent for the stress test.

Status: offline 		breathes, yup, When i was interviewing a new doctor I asked him if he knew anything about people liking kinky stuff like spankings and floggings and he said some, and I told  him my partner and I are into...... unusual things, and sometimes said things might coincide with a dr's appointment so if I am stiff or sore or marked up it's not suspicious at all, and then he sad cool and adviced me with my bad back don't do things when it's flared up.

"Doc, when you notice the signs of possible blunt force Trauma in the sign of a Bruise in a suspicious area do you assume they are abused?"
He said
"What do you Mean?"
I asked
"If a girl comes in with bruises on her Butt and Breasts what do you assume"
he said
"I don't assume, I ask 'is there something I should know about' it's when they lie about it that my job is difficult because I gotta figure why they are lying"
I said
"So what do you perfer?"
He Answered
"Most Physicians would perfer a coy smile and the answer "Yeah, I like it Kinky" There will be a chuckle or a widening of the eyes but at least they will refrain from calling the authorities and trying to talk your wife into a Rape Kit or Shelter"

You don't have to sit and discuss they nature of your play just let them know in a simple way that you are completely okay with what you are and they will let it go.

They my talk to you about the physical dangers of blunt force trauma to the particular areas and about the dangers of sub dermal laserations and what bruises mean but as long as you let it be known that you are aware of what you are doing they usually don't care.

Remember Prostitutes see doctors too. Imagine what that is like?
