If that's really a word, it has to mean "being unable."  Nequire means "to be unable."

"Athanasy" means "immortality."  Thanatos means "death," so athanasia means "the state of having no death."

"Euthanasia," which Ron mentioned, is obviously related.  It means literally "having a good death."

Other words from the same root are "thanatopsis" (which we've done), "thanatology," "thanatic," and so on.
