That one I know. "Iatrogenic" means "caused in the process of trying to cure someone." If the doctor fucks up your treatment and causes a staph infection, for example, the infection is called "iatrogenic." There are a few words with the "iatro-" root, but not many. Next one ... "spicant"

A falchion is a slightly curved blade of Middle Eastern influence, similar to a tulwar, but generally thicker... think machete with a weight problem... What is a snickersnee?

Gilbert & Sullivan made that one famous. It's the blade that Ko-Ko uses to execute criminals. I think it just refers to a knife used in fighting. Next one ... "lucifee"

"Lucifee" is an American corruption of "loup cervier," which is the Canada lynx. I don't know of any stories that use the word as a name for a cat, but it would be humorous. "Sectionalism" is close to "sectarianism": being part of a particular section, instead of adopting the viewpoint of the whole. Next one ... "cuttoo"

It's a grammatical term, the opposite of "telic." And now I'm going to turn the tables. What language does it (originally) apply to? In other words, it's sometimes used now in discussions of English grammar too, but it's borrowed from the grammar of which language? (You're more likely to get me with obscure scientific terms than obscure grammatical ones.)

All right, you get to go again. Told ya you'd have a better chance of stumping me with science words. Especially stuff like biochemistry--I suck at it, and there's a field with a bazillion technical terms.
