Has anyone seen this? Did they copy our symbol?

No. It's not even "our" symbol. The triskellion has been used a lot longer than the modern bdsm scene. Like all symbols, it is stolen, borrowed, transformed and made into whatever we want to make it into.

Gosh I hope so. It's about time that these lazy bums and villians spent some time working and not sitting around thinking about who they can rob next. Look at Sherriff Joe in Phoenix. Now THAT guy has the right idea.

SHERRIFF JOE FOR PRESIDENT ! !

this is exactly what I was talking about in the other thread about triskele style symbols... most people will mistake one for another

KarbonCopy, it seems like I read somewhere that the American Indians had a symbol that resembled the Nazi swastika long before Hitler came up with it.

*ponders one of those "what's wrong with this picture" type ponderings...*

Hhhhmmmmmm

The Federal Highway Administration symbol rotates clockwise and the sections are solid.

The BDSM symbol rotates counter clockwise and there is a hole in each section.

Why, I do declare! Beyond that they are very similar! Who'da thunk it?

YIK

I know I've seen that symbol meaning a lot of different things- representing companies and more, so it is definitly not only ours...However, they are always pretty different looking. I think that the colors, and whether or not there are "eyes" change its meaning.

Just to let folks know that the claims of copyright holding and ownership listed in an above link aren;t as they state themselves to be.

http://www.atruerose.com/rose/bdsmsymbol/myth.htm

As a side note - I'm one person that was contacted multiple times ever since 1997 when I opened one of my first sites by the self-proclaimed *coff* "copyright holder" asking for products or money if I continued to use the embelm. I just laughed at him, but evidently quite a few folks believed him over the years.

That is a very enlightening link, ShadeDiva. Thank you much for posting it!

I think I'll be going with the M/s symbol from now on. The triskle lost some of its luster after reading that.

Ahhhh, very interesting. Someone told me a few years ago that she talked to this guy on AOL and that he said he was the designer, etc. and I had gut feeling misgivings about it. Your link clears up a lot.

Already been done...lol

Leather girls are men and women who find joy in being in service to others. A leather girl is a submissive, slave, or bottom with a feminine heart, regardless of gender.
