i dont get submissive men, on any level. i like many submissive males, have quite a few as close, personal friends, but the thought of touching most makes my skin crawl. that doesnt mean i lable them as poppycock or hogwash. their way just isnt my way.

I am a straight dominant man, and your close minded passive aggressive bigotry makes MY skin crawl.

On a personal note:

I'm all for to Not to GOR, I really ain't got the time to sit and read each and every single GOR book in existence. I actually made it 3/4 of the way through the first book. After about 20 masterbation breaks from the hot reading material. I found myself getting bored with the actual story line.

So...you get off that much on someone talking about their schooling in England, going to college and getting a job in a small New Hampshire college teaching English Literature and fencing for sport followed by a hiking and camping trip in the White Mountains?

I think that makes you kinkier than anyone else I have seen here.

Be well....

One thing I think we CAN conclude, looking over this thread... Gor is a highly divisive topic.

The basics are not that diverse but the extensions into everyday life can be. Just like any philosophy. You would think people have Plato completely nailed down, but there are still discussions to this day as to the application of some of his ideas. This happens with any philosophy.

The other thing is, I would love to see one of these so-called "Gorean Masters" tossed into a room with a Domme like Midori, or Cleo DuBois... and we'd see just how "naturally superior" they really were. (I'd be willing to put my money on the guys kissing the ladies' shoes within ten minutes.)

See this is where you get into trouble with the mods. You are just baiting here . No need for comments such as these in a rational discussion.

Also, your use of the term "Gorean Master" is incorrect in application, at least I hope it is incorrect ;).

Greetings all....

For those of you who haven't gotten it yet. Goreans treat anyone who calls themselves a "Gorean Master" as neither Gorean nor a Master. Goreans never call themselves that. Pure player/BDSM usage. It is one of the filters we use to tell the fakes from the real people.

tazzygirl -> RE: To Gor or not to Gor... (5/9/2009 6:41:03 PM)

my post was far from passive agressive, i stated what i felt, plainly and clearly. nor was it laced with bigotry. i dont not find submissive males sexually appealing on any level, other than friendship. you can feel as you wish, no one is stopping you. but, to me, submitting to a man who submits to another, be it male or female, does not work for me. been there, burned the t-shirt.

missturbation -> RE: To Gor or not to Gor... (5/9/2009 6:41:51 PM)

Yanno i read the first three chronicles of gor and never found anything to masturbate over - sheesh [:o]
I enjoyed the books and philosophies though [:D]

RedMagic1 -> RE: To Gor or not to Gor... (5/9/2009 6:43:30 PM)

While BDSM advice often has a "hey, whatever works for your relationship" feel to it -- Jack Rinella famously saying "There's no Pope of Rope" -- you can see the Goreans on this thread assessing how close to true Goreanism others are.  It's like a white belt, colored belt, black belt scale.  Except... there's no Pope of Goreanism either.  There's no institutional standard, no measuring stick other than "Person X thinks person Y is more Gorean than person Z."  Even in something as diverse as Christianity, various faiths got together and voted, and determined the Unitarians weren't Christian, because they don't accept Jesus as divine in the appropriate way.  So the Unitarian Church is not invited to certain inter-church meetings, because it is not a Christian church.  You might disagree with the decision, but there's at least a clear institutional structure, not just every-man-for-himself opinionism.

It's impossible to have a discussion, much less a debate, if anyone can come along and say, "No no, the real definition of terms is this, and the true Gorean philosophy is that.  Those others who say they are Gorean don't really know what they are talking about."  Obvious though that might seem, there are clearly people posting on this thread who are spoiling for a fight, but pretending they want to "discuss" things.  Such drama.

Oh, and I must say, quoting Marianne Moore was a nice touch.  I hadn't read that piece in years.  Thanks for that.

Just the parts past the closet. Like I said I was around 14 years old at the time too. Wow, you make this first book sound more boring than what I even thought it was. I would find myself getting turned on by the Power/control aspects over 1/2 naked women and what i myself would end up doing. It was not Erotic per se in writting, but it gave me a lot to imagine if I had been Tarl. I would have been taking advantage of things a hell of a lot compared to him. Oh well... I was just a horney teenager getting turned on by the aspects of it all. Yeah, I really did masterbate to it some. However, the writting did not go where it needed to go for me. Did not get sexual enough for me, and the story line did not move me to great lenght. Hence why I only made it 3/4 of the way through the book. lol

The Power aspect over 1/2 naked women chained up and being captive and owned, you bettcha I thought it was hot. But yeah, it started to bore me the story line.

What thread are you reading? The one I read had some wild assertions thrown about which were then calmly answered. And the Goreans answering the OP seem to largely agree.

Kinda kills the drama. Sorry about that.

Life goes on.

Past the closet? Are you thinking of Narnia and the wardrobe?

Lets see....first it was 20 wanks in 20 pages then you couldn't read any more. Now it is 3/4 of the first book but you haven't a clue what was in there except that after the first 20 pages it wasn't masturbatory material at all? Hhhhmmm.....the story keeps changing and changing again. I have been around a while....more than most online. I have been having these...discussions...more times than I want to remember. People like you keep digging themselves deeper and deeper. Why not give up while you are behind?

sweetsub1957 -> RE: To Gor or not to Gor... (5/9/2009 11:42:27 PM)

Greetings Loric,
i am not Gorean, but i respect that not E/everyone chooses to live T/their life the same way i do.  i have, however, been  insulted because of some other facet of my life and it bothered me at first, yes.  But i moved along and told myself that because of His closed mind, He is losing out on a potential positive interaction with another human being.  i choose not to be Gorean, as i disagree with Goreans' blanket disrespect to all women that i have experienced.....Gorean Masters treating me in initial letters as Their slave and calling me "girl" when i do not belong to Them and so on, BUT that is no reason for disrespect of S/someone E/else's choices.

Musicmystery -> RE: To Gor or not to Gor... (5/10/2009 12:56:14 AM)

For what it's worth, sweetsub, Malkinius was exactly correct:

its just easier to be lazy.

[/quote]

Its hard to argue your excellent logic....A woman should be willing to do more work than a man in the bedroom.....

Down on your knees and address my crotch as SIR!!....

Sorry, not you, just talking outloud/practicing, some woman was asking me about protocols......

If you aren't talking about sex, you should be..... FYI....IMHO.....

YEP, I didn't one sentence of what you said.....I have excellent skills of not listening as well as not reading (joking)....

Its true its easier to insult than praise, unless you actually decide to be more positive, with practice its actually nice to praise people honestly and make people feel good for their well deserved achievements or the truth as you see it (your perception says she is beautiful)......regardless if your drunk and you're wearing GOGGLES that say "BEER GOGGLES"....

IronBear -> RE: To Gor or not to Gor... (5/10/2009 4:38:36 AM)

The term Master has oft been debated here. One reason I refer to myself, for example, as Master, is because I am the head of a home, I just happen to be a Master of my area of Art Work , Calligraphy and Illumination of the Irish 9th C era, and Academically, I hold an M.Sc. To this I am a Past Master and Current GM of a Lodge, thus the term and form of address "Master" is applicable in selective areas elsewhere, who gives a damn. However from a Gorean perspective, and to be correct, a Gorean Man is referred to as a Master if he ownes a slave. That I still argue if he is the head of a home he is also entitled to be called Master but the last time I debated that in Gorean circles the lines were evenly divided. One problems those who are part of and live a Gorean Lifestyle have in the public forum is the miss use of terms and lack of accurate knowledge by some who Role Play Gor (often woefully badly) and try it on at a BDSM Function. It is but one reason why many Gorean Lifestylers don't advertise their lifestyle when playing or attending public BDSM functions.

OttersSwim -> RE: To Gor or not to Gor... (5/10/2009 9:38:28 AM)

I saw and met John Norman at multiple SciFi conventions back in the late 80s early 90s.  He was the nicest little white haired old man.  I generally find Goreans to be a lot like the biker folk - you leave them alone, they leave you alone.

If I was a 22 year old hottie girl, I would be into Gor at warp 10 (OMG!  I'm geekin out ya'll!), but as I am a 45 yo girlie BOY...that path is not for me...  [;)]

It is what we are? Including all male submissives? Including women like me who are old enough to be your mother? Hardly.

By being blatantly disrespectful to anyone who identifies as submissive, I'm not surprised you are still searching. I'm submissive to just one, no one else has the right to use diminutives towards me.

No not 20 wanks in 20 pages, about 20 for 3/4 of the book...
