Actually I have sent money to people I only met online, but not on CM and not solicited, people I have been talking to for years on another forum (vanilla) and when some of them hit a rough patch, it was OK to send them some money (one was a single mother and she had lost her job, so instead of just exchanging the usual xmas card via snail mail, I had some $ left from the last business trip in the US and sent her $300 so she had at least some money for Xmas presents for the Um), of course she might have been a scammer and even had a female answering the phone whenever I called and all that, but I highly doubt it. We met some years after that, when I was in her area and she actually wanted to pay me back, we decided to blow the money on a baby sitter and a girls night out instead. Same with a few online friends who hit a rough patch, if I could easily spare it (and they NEVER asked for it), not a big deal, but all of them people I was talking to for ages. I don't think everybody online is automatically a scammer, but if anybody would request a ton of money for nothing or vague promises, I would go "Oh NO, I don't think so..."
