subbisherri -> waterboarding (5/12/2009 10:20:31 AM)

It's been in the news a lot the past while, what with Gitmo and CIA interrogations and Obama issuing apologies. I'm not talking about the medieval version of getting strapped to a board and dunked, but the one with a cloth over your face and water being poured on to simulate drowning.
Since incarceration / interrogation / we-have-ways-of-making-you-talk is one of my fave scenes, I'm more than a little intrigued with the possibility of doing it.
So, the obvious question: has anyone tried it, and how did it go?

ss

PS: cross-posting this to "ask a submissive" as well.

FRSguy -> RE: waterboarding (5/12/2009 10:33:36 AM)

Not yet but I definatly plan on it!  Saw the set up but I have to change my Dungeon around with a cage and what not so I can do the full weekend interrogation thing.  I am even going to set it up so there is actual info to obtain...lol

Its all in fun of course

BoiJen -> RE: waterboarding (5/12/2009 10:34:40 AM)

You're not really supposed to "cross-post" repeated copied and pasted posts are against the TOS.

Now...recently, at Beyond Leather, in Fl, Miss Chrysty did a waterboarding class using various techniques to simulate drowning...I had a blast.

Danibelle -> RE: waterboarding (5/12/2009 10:51:51 AM)

I've been interested in trying.  It's something that I think would terrify me and I love to feel scared.  I don't know how long I'd last.  I'd talk.

Aileen1968 -> RE: waterboarding (5/12/2009 11:22:51 AM)

Add me to the "That's fucking hot" list.
Interrogation scenes are way up there....

BoiJen -> RE: waterboarding (5/12/2009 11:41:38 AM)

even some of the most experienced breath players can only last a few seconds with waterboarding...it's a wholly different experience

ShaharThorne -> RE: waterboarding (5/12/2009 12:00:15 PM)

It would probably terrify me, but I would give it a shot just for the hell of it.

First of all, I'd be very careful, a person can drown with a tsp of water.

My idea of waterboarding: An old-fashioned frat paddle soaked in ice water, used on a purposely heated nicely bent over ass.

Sorry about the "cross-post" thought, should've known it's not on. Won't happen again.

BoiJen, thanks muchly for the info! I'm hope it's not out of line sending Miss Chrysty an email, but what the heck, I've been slapped down before!

Further to the idea: I'm NOT a breath player, used to absolutely hate the thought until a wonderfully patient and knowledgeable man forced me to confront the fear. That actually makes the thought a little more intriguing.

And I can't help but wonder if the root of it is the negative connotation attached, ie this is something that some not-so-good people have really done to some really bad people? "Hey, look, a terrorist got this treatment, wonder if I'm tough enough?"

GeekFreak -> RE: waterboarding (5/12/2009 5:50:18 PM)

I know nothing about this...but after reading the above posts, I went to google, and found a couple videos that may be of interest.

The first American courts martial for it was done against our marines who illegally used this to torture Philippinos in the 1890's. The English consider it "too risky to use as a technique" because of the real chance of killing the victim. And good job putting that up.

Tough enough to be a terrorist?

I hear most people can only take it for about two minutes the thing you'd always lack to get the real terrorist prisoner experience is: no contact with anyone to verify you are ok, fear that the non lethal procedure could be misused in a lethal way (going back to the idea of being in a room with no one there looking out for your wellbeing) and isolation without due process.

Probably even few of us could take it in a secure environment where we knew it was a mock up of the real situation, but in the case of any mock up there is no comparison to the non consensual uncertainty of the real thing.

Ummm.. people's hearts fail from the stress of it. People's lungs fill with water and the interrogators sometimes don't get it out quickly enough - then they drown. This is not about being tough. This is a technique that is classified as a really bad, and possibly lethal form of torture by everyone except Bush and Cheney.

This is not a matter of making little pontifications over about toughness or kink.

The shallow narcissism gets to be a little much.

Perhaps there are some who think being broken on a wheel is hot too. They too are called sick, deranged morons.

I am simply appalled that anyone could respond to this post with anything other than disgust.

marie2 -> RE: waterboarding (5/12/2009 6:15:40 PM)

Well, they're talking about the simulation of it, just like we simulate kidnapping, rape or whatever.

Aileen1968 -> RE: waterboarding (5/12/2009 6:19:17 PM)

A lot of what I choose to do here is dangerous. To experience this is no different.
I still think the idea is hot. If you don't like the idea, then don't do it.

kittinSol -> RE: waterboarding (5/12/2009 6:29:31 PM)

How do you simulate drowning? Just a question.

How do you simulate rape?  How do you simulate kidnapping?  Or any of the other stuff that many bdsmer's engage in?

I think waterboarding triggers emotions because of the immediate association with torture camps.  Someone (sorry I forget his name) posted two links here... the second demonstration was quite disturbing for me to watch, and I could actually feel my own anxiety going up while watching it.  But, I'm sure I'd feel the same way if I were watching a demonstration of rape too.   I had to remind myself that we are talking about consentual thrills here.  I think it's important to keep this in the context in which it's been presented.

She is right, but i can easily understand the feelings quixotic has, because i had the same. Here in Germany we have an ongoing discussion in the bdsm scene about uniforms and especially ss uniforms, we have had parties where people wearing those were banned, other were the opposing people were banned and so on.

I am with the SS uniforms /even without the insignia in Germany, or Securitate uniforms in Romania...are not only tasteless, but a minefield. And the same goes for me, when i read about waterboarding, some things are too mingled.

As a former tournament swimmer, i would not play with it, but i can understand the interest, but not the airing on a public board. In 1-2 years time i would have had another instant reaction.

But i would not call somebody a moron here, it is simply not the way people interact here.
