Have any of you ever went to a BD/SM Club(in this instance or my instance, Paddles in NYC) and met someone you knew there who previously did had no clue was into the "scene" etc."?
Happened to me twice some time ago. Went to the aforementioned club and saw two people I knew, one a teacher from when I was in High School and another friend I knew who I had not seen in years. Not there together mind you but it was amazing that we crossed paths. The teacher was embarrassed at first. The other friend was too but got over it since we were all in the same damn place anyway and into something......
Has this happened to anyone else? Not necessarily at an  sm/bd club but either there or a kink party  etc. ?

Many years ago I used to frequent a BDSM club in the South West of the UK.

I got to know a friendly couple, both in their late 50s, where she was Domme and he was her sub TV. They were friendly to chat with and as I got to know them I learnt that they had a son, who was married, but that they had not seen their son or daughter-in-law for many years since shortly after they got married.

No reason was given to why this was so.

One night at the club this couple were surprised to see, on their first visit to a fetish club, their son and daughter-in-law enter the club. The son was a sub TV and his wife was a Domme.

You could almost hear a needle drop when they first set eyes on each other. The shock on all four faces was interesting.

They talked in a corner of the club for the rest of the evening.

I never saw either couple at the club again.

Make of that what you will.

Not exactly but something close, here on this site.
I emailed a prospective sub and was surprised when she emaled me back asking if my name was "______" she was correct.
I emailed her back as she clearly knew me but she never emailed me back.

I've not met anyone in a club (not going to clubs might have something to do with that....) but I have met LadyBV, from the other side, in the grocery store.

Not a club, but when I and debbie went to our first munch, as we pulled into the parking lot, throught the restaurant windows, we saw an old friend from the SCA. (medieval re-enactment group) We had known him, and his wife, for almost 10 years. Needless to say, we weren't nervouse anymore. It is strange that we could know each other that long, and never realise what we had in common, you'd think that the signal whips I made him would have been a clue.

Well, it wasn't exactly at anything for the local bdsm groups, but, a couple other groups converged on us at one point.  Our household went to a poly society meeting/coffee, and I saw a handfull of people there that I knew from another group, and a couple that are friends of our neighbours as well.  At first, it was kind of confusing, and I was wondering if I was at the right place on the right day at the right time or if I got things confused again.  So, I flat out asked, "Hey!  What the hell are you guys doing here?", in my normal jovial tone, of course.  Just one of those "small world" things.  I know person a and b from group one, I know person c (who knows person b from group one) from group two and d from group three, and c and d know eachother from group four and here they all are at group five...  My brain, it can not handle these things, and wished to explode. ;)

Well, if we're all there, we're all into the same stuff. My doctor is, and we talk about stuff when I go to see her. She doesn't go to munches though, since she works for a Catholic hospital.

In the mundane world, I smile, if they show signs of being willing to say they know me, and I cover for the "I can't call you 'Lord Whipmaster' problem by laughing and saying, "And Aunt Pamela, this is...um....I'm so sorry, I've forgot your name! Anyway, he's a friend of a friend of mine." Which is technically true if at my local munch.

I am pretty good with the tactic, anyway, because I was pagan before I was lifestyle, and it is also not a good idea to say, "Diana Moonshadow!!! How did teaching that Tarot class go last week?" when you don't recognize who she's with. This area of the country's pretty conservative, in a couple of directions.

My partner and I went to the Seattle Erotic Ball this year where I was lucky enough to be the floggee in a flogging demonstration. The domme delivering the flogging was fantastic and I was thoroughly enjoying it when I looked up and through my daze saw a guy from my latin dance class...

He's been much chattier ever since...

I recently saw an old friend on a last name, and wondering if I met this person before....coincidences happen all the time.......

I tend to be more obscure and hard to connect, more of a loner, and more nerdy (wierd al yankavitz - so nerdy) -> So my personal meets aren't usually about BDSM. Well, besides the fact that I'm a Karata Master, so yea, I kick ass regularly. ;/ If you do kick someone's ass royally, Do not, and I mean do not sit around to brag about it to the cops! just FYI, live and learn.....

I'm currently sitting with a lame assault charge and the dude I assaulted wasn't even hurt?! What the heck!! Next time I assault someone I should just break their neck....(or wrist, or big toe(kung fu hustle)!! )

OK, that one's got to be the winner so far! That's a great story! How'd it end, though?

HAHAHAHA!  That's even better than me running into my first grade teacher in a liquor store a while back!

A couple friend of mine knew I was into the lifestyle and asked if I'd show them a thing or two about playing safely and whatnot(PG stuff), they asked if they could invite some friends, I said sure.
Well come the day of the lesson, my boss and his wife walk in the door.

I used her as my model :)

No, but someone who worked in the same building (but for a different company) I had previously met at a few play parties! That was a bit awkward, but he was discreet about it.

Alexandra, I hope your feet and thyroid problems get resolved soon!

Thanks for the concern.

I get along and I get by, and I can hope that someday we'll either win the lottery or get national health care, and I'll be able to get it dealt with. Til then, I still have fun.

That's sweet of you.

I've actually had several occasions where I hedged carefully around my religion only to have the other person go, "Well, you know, I'm a witch" which made me feel pretty stupid for not picking up on it. Most notably with my husband's cousin, which, given the very conservative family he is from (insane, but conservative) was rather amusing. We now have someone cool to talk to at family funerals and weddings.
