Dumbest Presidetg ever? Are you deranged? Like his politics or not, there is no rational basis to question his intellect. You don't get into Harvard Law without being among the smartest people in this country and you don't become President of the Law Review without having some significant qualifications. So please don't allow your partisonism or racism cloud your logic. Also, please don't ompare him to the previous President who had a hard time mastering the basics of the English language.

Let me get this straight...they are deranged because they suggested Obama wasn't intelligent and he went to Harvard so he must have some intelligence. Yet you claim Bush had a hard time mastering english and he graduated from Yale. I guess that means you are as deranged as the poster you were replying to.

Don't forget Bush has a Master's from Haaaaavad

Bush going to Yale undergrad proves nothing. He was a legacy admission. Yale preferentially admits the offspring of its alumni, most of the rest of the Ivy League do as well. His having gotten a Harvard MBA is an indication of a good mind, although there remains a question of how a person from the middle of graduating class at Yale got into one of the most competitive MBA programs out there, indication of more family connections at work it appears.

Obama getting into Columbia and Harvard law shows he was an elite student and was one of the top law school applicants the year he applied.

Yes, the problem with Bush the Lesser is not that he doesn't have a good mind. That's not the kind of moron he is. The problem is that he's intellectually lazy. A poor student, classic underacheiver. Characteristics that were the hallmark of his political career as well as his academic career.

Not to mention his business career.

As far as a good mind, I don't know.  Schools like Yale and Harvard, as well as many graduate programs, will not fail a student so as not to blemish their selective admissions reputation.

Even the incompetent will skate by earning C grades even if performing at a failing level.

Are these photos that were not previously released?  If so, I would be curious to know how they got them.

Lucylastic -> RE: Obama seeks to block release of abuse photos‎ (5/15/2009 6:46:14 PM)

I took a quick look at the "new" ones and they dont seem to be much different from the ones already released?

From what the home page says (www.informationclearinghouse.info)  these are the new, unreleased photos.

New 'Prisoner Abuse' Photographs Emerge Despite US Bid to Block Publication

By Alex Spillius in Washington

Graphic photographs of alleged prisoner abuse, thought to be among up to 2,000 images Barack Obama is trying to prevent from being released, emerged yesterday. Continue

No photos of abuse show the US or the UK in a good light. Its a noble idea to make them public, but the adverse publicity and propoganda they afford to the likes of Al Qaeda is immense. Part of me wants them released and part of me feels its a bad idea.

e problem with that is that President Obama keeps getting things right the second time. At some point, we are all going to be stuck with his first instinct, instead of what comes out after the aides and staffers dry behind his ears, and explain the facts of life to him.

When Obama was running for president he had the mentality of a constitutional law professor.(which he was)  Ask him a question about pictures and knowing that the courts will require that they be published he would probably say that they should be released. Now, when  the generals tell him releasing the pictures may cost lives and create problems for the US, Obama allowed the court process to take over.  Was he wrong either time?  Did he change positions?  I would answer no on both issues.  He was right initially as a constitutional professor that a court will ultimately require the pictures released.  He was right in saving lives etc. by allowing the system to deal with the issue.  The wars are at another critical crossroads so let the Supreme Court order the release of the photos......................in a couple of years.

In another thread I suggested that everyone should be pardoned and we should get on with the problems of this country.  You are not going to get anyone charged.  There was even a statute passed two years ago preventing many from being charged and higher ups will not be charged because then members of congress could be charged.  It will not happen and we are wasting our time.

You know..I find it hilariously ironic that the animals over in the Middle East rape, torture, murder, use kids & women as bomb carriers, use civilians as shields, and other assorted atrocities, but yet one scumbag gets a little boo boo and everyones up in arms.

Give.Me. A. Break.

You don't want to abide by the Geneva conventions? Fine by me. I'll gladly hook a car battery up to their testicles to pass a few hours.

You know what? In war, you have to win by any means neccesary. You can't wage "surgical warfare". I'm sure the scumbags who slammed 4 planes into the ground/WTC/Pentagon were just "oh so worried" about engaging in surgical warfare.

I will say again what I've said before: You don't follow laws and rules of decency because of who your enemies are. You follow them because of who you want to be.

Nah. Sorry man. I respect you're opinion, but I have to disagree.

The first time a nation realizes that we play fair? They win. They're free to do whatever they want - fire RPG's on convoys, launch mortar attacks, beheadings, rapes, strap 10 lbs of TNT to a child,  you name it.  Meanwhile, back on the farm, our soldiers are tied down with ridiculous ROE's that prevent them from protecting themselves.

I'll say this once, and I'll say this again: We should have the right to procure information by ANY means neccesary, if it means saving lives.

Waterboarding? Fine by me.
Electrodes up the ass/strapped to a guys nuts? Fine by me.
Afraid of dogs? Let me introduce you to Cujo.

You don't win wars by playing nice. When they decided to use planes as weapons, that were loaded with peoples lives? All civility went out the window, IMO.
