What about humans can't fly with out the aid of a machine or apparatus. What if we want to take offense to people who take a sayin like for fucks sake, and turn it into 3 little letters that don't mean anything.

There's always going to be a pet peeve about something.

Thats fine they can't fly without aid.

To say i can't eat fish is what bugs me.

Do they mean they won't or can't and if you can't why?

Mind i'm not really keen on people taking a word like saying and dropping the 'g' off the end but hey thats just me

I have a couple friends that actually can't eat meat, one of them literally any animal product. Allergies. And a couple that "don't" eat it. Not because of any moral reason or anything, they just don't like the taste of meat. I don't get it, but whatever.

Oh I don't really take offense, I'd have to be awfully low on other things to take offense at FFS.

Yeah I get the I can't eat fish thing, it's like sure you can, but something bad will happen so you choose not to eat it to avoid bad consequences. I guess people just don't stop to think about the differences.

Well technically, yes they can eat it. They however would not like the possibly deadly outcome of eating it so they stay away from eating it.

Yeah, that wasn't spam either because it was on a day when my venom was dripping and I responded. There are 3-4 more of those gems from the same person in my deleted mail somewhere.

I simply cannot read ebonitext, or whatever you want to call it. I don't care about verification, but if you could set up one question before people could contact you, it'd be great. Two trains leave...

Well for me if I am not willing to do something a potential demands, it doesn't mean I don't take them seriously, it just means I am not interested in their demands.And when I tell Daddy no, it doesn't mean I don't take him seriously, it just means I am not interested or able to do what he's asking right now. And our relationship allowes that.

There is one word no one has mentioned, and it is the only one word in existence that should be outlawed: ain't

It really DOES have a meaning and it can be legitimately used in many statements. For instance, if I said "I want you to have dinner with us here in Little Rock, AR in 30 minutes, missturbation. Be here. No excuses." Well, you can't. No way, no how can you get here that quickly. So there is a valid use of "can't" just like several other people have listed.

I do see your point, however, that many people say "can't" when it is really they "won't." Sometimes they shouldn't like with the eating shellfish statement. They COULD eat it but why WOULD they if they know they risk serious allergic reactions? In that case, even if they said they WON'T eat it, I don't see that as a problem in any way. I wouldn't either.

As LaT said, I don't like the word "subbie" either and as someone else said I DESPISE the term "sub frenzy." It's the most ridiculous, non-sensical excuse for a "condition" I've ever heard laid out.

As far as normal everyday words that I hate, the one that pops to mind is not actually a word but a mispronunciation: libary (pronounced "li-berry") instead of library. I have worked in libraries for years and when anyone (patron or staff - yes I said "staff!!!") says it, my skin crawls. "There is no such thing as a li-berry you idiot!!!!!!," is what I feel like screaming. Get it right!

Recently, i have become extremely annoyed by the word "Later" because it's so indefinate...
and later is always much later than i think later should be.....

It's right up there with "right back"and a "in a little while"
