Gingrich is Rip Van Winkle.  When Clinton was in power, he was vocal, and then disappeared during the Bush Administration.  Now he's back...

I suspect that he got burned out and decided to retire before, but that the GOP's current power vacuum was too much for him to resist.

Not only the fact that there's a power vaccuum, but that finally - for the first time in his political career - he actually seems sane and reasonable in comparison to his colleagues. And just about the right amount of time has passed for a lot of people to forget what  a fucking loon he really was. An opportunity no shameless opportunist like Gingrich could possibly pass up.

MarsBonfire -> RE: Pelosi says Bush team misled her on waterboarding (5/20/2009 5:31:37 AM)

Getting back to the original thread topic, I find it interesting that the memos which supposedly support the attendance records of these briefings, are full of inconsinstencies, and are pretty shoddy when it comes to recording the facts.

Let's see... the CIA was wrong about WMD, about 9/11, about the location of Bin Leiden, about the source of the (now we find to be homegrown) anthrax attacks...

But damn, they sure KNOW for certain, what they told Pelosi about their own illegal, unconstitutional programs.

Then we have jerkoff republicans screaming for her to "prove it" when they know damn well that she wasn't allowed to have access to any hard copy from the meetings because they were classified. They go so far as to call for her to resign. What a bunch of douche bags!

There are good agents there.Good ,hardworking committed analysts, investigators, special ops.,translators and other skill-sets there.Gathering intel and thwarting crime and catching bad guys.

It`s not the rank and file people that we`re talking about. Most all do their jobs well and with real honesty, integrity and camaraderie.

It`s management, we`re talking about. The distinction is important and means everything to this discussion.

When we refer to the "CIA",we should distinguish between the officer corps that does the work and the appointed officials who manage them.

The agency as a rule, neither confirms nor denies anything to the public.Their only interface with the public, is the President.

It`s the political leadership,we`re talking about.

Here is a good article

http://www.newsweek.com/id/198829/page/1

Pelosi admits she knew, but denied it before. Her story has changed too many times for her to be crediable.

Regardless of whether Graham has correct dates or not, it has nothing to do with Pelosi changing her story multiple times. Before anyone argues anything to this post, please explain why Pelosi's statements have changed so dramatically from her original denial of knowing anything about waterboarding and similar techniques being used.

Let's waterboard Pelosi and get the truth out of her.....

housesub4you -> RE: Pelosi says Bush team misled her on waterboarding (5/22/2009 3:27:59 AM)

The thing that makes me believe Pelosi was misled is the terminology they used in the alleged notes.  The use the term Enhanced Interrogation Techniques (EIT) nowhere in any records does this term exist before 2006, except in the one hand written memo stating she was briefed on waterboarding in 2002.  In no other documnet does is this term used when discussing waterboarding or torture until Bush used it in 2006.

Seems strange to me that they would use this term only once in 2002, and then it never appears again until 2006 and then it is used all the time.

OrionTheWolf -> RE: Pelosi says Bush team misled her on waterboarding (5/22/2009 5:42:10 AM)

And the reason she had three or four different versions of what she knew and when? Why all the different versions, the original claiming she knew nothing about water boarding, and the last one stating she knew but it was from a different source?

Waterboarding is too good for her. Id go for "Boys from Brazil" style dental work on those phony teeth, extreme dermabrasion on that phony skin, and pulling off her fake fingernails....using the real ones underneath.

Good, then maybe you'll change your mind since you are incorrect that the term never appears again until 2006. It is used in the three 2005 memos that Blowboy released, and was used in the 2003 memo that the ACLU received under the FOIA in 2007. Im sure with a little effort many more could be found.

Dont confuse the medias use of the term (they prefer "torture" since it sells more papers) and the governments use of the term.

As the last press conference attests, it didnt work very well. She displayed virtually every "tell" that a liar can show.

I know....next time, should I put in a joke flag?

She only killed her forehead...the rest of her body was talking very loudly....

============
Pinocchio, Snow White, and Superman are out for a stroll in town one day.
As they walked, they come across a sign: “Beauty contest for the most beautiful woman in the world.” “I am entering!” said Snow White. After half an hour she comes out and they ask her, “Well, how’d ya do?” “First Place!” said Snow White.
They continue walking and they see a sign: “Contest for the strongest man in the world.” “I’m entering,” says Superman. After half an hour, he returns and they ask him, “How did you make out?” “First Place,” answers Superman. “Did you ever doubt?”
They continue walking when they see a sign: “Contest! Who is the greatest liar in the world?” Pinocchio enters. After half an hour he returns with tears in his eyes. “What happened?” they asked. “Who the heck is this Nancy Pelosi?” asked Pinocchio.

Posted without comment?  Shame on you!  Two of the three people in the Briefing she speaks of said that yes they were told it was being used.  The fourth refuses to answer any questions on the mantter. Make of that what you will, I have.

DuncanONeil -> RE: Pelosi says Bush team misled her on waterboarding (5/26/2009 3:00:26 PM)

False according to whom?

Crush -> RE: Pelosi says Bush team misled her on waterboarding (5/26/2009 9:45:47 PM)

Ya really need to put a quote or context or something there, Duncan....we don't go back to figure out who you are talking to generally ;)

Welcome to the fray.

I post without comment often, on purpose, because I want to hear responses to the topic not responses to my opinion of the topic.

If you are interested in my opinions I suggest you read the whole thread and you'll find my views in several posts.

DuncanONeil -> RE: Pelosi says Bush team misled her on waterboarding (6/4/2009 11:08:21 AM)

Still in all, her position on this issue shows that she is either a total incompetent or is lying for her own ends.

DuncanONeil -> RE: Pelosi says Bush team misled her on waterboarding (6/4/2009 11:11:22 AM)

That is the nature of the beast!  When some form of nomenclature becomes an acceptable shorthand for something it becomes used by nearly everyone.
