I'm sure we'd all love to get to hook up with someone the moment we pushed a magical button.

Desperation does not befit a competent D-type. Frankly, it rarely befits a competent anything.

Consider yourself fortunate to have been given such an insight into the sad minds of such folks before committing any emotional investment and don't let the impact you negatively.

Now this is something I can agree with but, there usually is a but with me isn't there? I also understand the desperation. I understand the experience of feeling so low because of a lack of self esteem and believing that you haven't a hope in Hades of finding someone suitable. It is like a canker eating away at you and such desperation often does cause gross misjudgements when actually meeting people. Been there done that once and it cost me a great deal. I would say however that, even desperate people can if they have the knowledge and gumption learn to be discerning and thus break the cycle. patience is the answer and at time the patience of Job as well as faith in yourself and a knowledge of what you seek with the determination of not settling for less. As I have so often stated: "Better an empty collar than filling it with the wrong person".
