whole-bodyimaging

Am at odds with the idea. I have never flown in a plane, so that might be part of why it is hard for me to relate.

Part of me feels like, "Oh, so seeing me 'virtually' naked is okay, as long as it is on your terms."

Another part of me has other concerns. Might there come a time when full-cavity searches are deemed necessary, for the sake of security?

Edited to fix link. (its not working )

Kim

It is hard for me to relate to someone who has never taken a flight. I think you should try it sometime. There is nothing like it...

I dont have any problem with the imaging, myself.  NOt that I think it'll be especially helpful in the grand scheme of things.

I have thought about it. Don't really have any place to go, and no money to get there. Maybe in a few years...

I've never been through a body-imager, but it's been a long time since I've flown. I don't see it as a big deal though. I have been through metal detectors, had an ionic scanner ran over me (it's a drug sniffer, I was visiting a friend in prison), I've been frisked, and I've had a drug dog go through my car (also at the prison I was visiting).

If you want to enter a secure facility, which an airport and commercial aircraft is, then you deal with it.

I'm not sure how much of the imaging is a problem for me, hard saying not having done it, but I can say, working toward not being ashamed of what is under my clothes has been a large part of what I have become. Something about knowing they would find it offensive if I were to simply strip down to show them I have nothing, but pretending they can't see me is okay, because I can't see them doing it.

And what about what I might have in other places?

(okay, so I'm stuck on that too)

I’ve known for a long time that the idea of being innocent until proven guilty, is a farce; just sucks seeing it become so obvious.

It has nothing to do with the presumption of innocence. Like military installations, prisons, police departments, industrial plants, etc; airports are secure facilities. You don't have a right to be there; it's not like being on a public street. When you enter a secure facility, you waive certain rights.

i don't know if i've ever been subjected to the full body scanner, i know that i've been stuck in some big ginormous cylindrical canister that i step in and then they blow air on you. i don't know what the hell that thing is. It was weird. Glad i wasn't wearing a skirt...especially since i'm prone to not wear panties. i would have gotten arrested for indecent exposure (since there is a window)...or applause.

SB, rights are a farce, too.

HAHAHA I've often travelled so stepping on a plane's just one of those..things, I have NEVER actually thought about the whole-body-imaging thingy..hmmmm but..thinking about it, it doesn't disturb me at all.
hundreds go through it every day..the supervisors are not going to be thinking ooo I see her naked tihihihihihihi hihihihi lets make her walk through it again...hihihi anotha one naked..hihihi see her panties?! ooo hold on hold on look at them boobies....    you might think it's weird but really, think about it.. after seeing thousands n thousands of bodies you are just..yet another body. The charm of it wears off very quickly..and even though you see this gorgeous lookin person going through..it's nothing memorable.

I was lmao , until I got to there....

My strong sense of individualism tells me, being "yet another body", is not a 'good' thing.

Lol…

Part of the reason I contemplate such things, is because I am ‘gifted’ with a segmented personality.

One side wants to say, “You wanna see what I’ve got? Let’s do it up! grrrr” (she can be mean.. lol)

Another wants to say, “Is this really necessary, and what makes you think it so?”

Yet another, “Would you go first, just to show me how it’s done (: D)” *giggles*

….. “What do you mean you weren’t looking?!?” ; )

…. And the last, but not least, *wide-eyed, and on full alert*; just does it.

The variety keeps things exciting.

Oh yes it does.....you are guilty unless you can prove innocence.

This scanner system already has you pegged as a potential terrorist threat, and to prove you are not, then you pass through the scanner...showing you are not concealing any bottles of water or whatever, any weapons, including the clok plastic pistols.

Those who accept this type of search as routine, of no real consequence, has accepted that they are the enemy. Even as a citizen, you have no rights; it has become the completeness of fascism. The citizen being nothing more that a 'cash cow' to the governmental system which tells you it is for your own protection.

If you investigate, even the slightest news stories, the feds all knew the hi-jackers of 9-11; but allowed them on the plane anyhow. Time, Newsweek, et al, reported the history of the terrorists.....so, what's the point here.

In Flint MI the Post Office has installed a 10 inch thick plexiglass window partition separting the customer from the clerks,.... where you get your stamps,... the separation is only deep enough to NOT allow your first knuckle...Want to mail a package... first ring the bell, the clerk opens the door for you to place your pakage, then waits for you to completely shut the door till it locks, and only then will the clerk open the door on her side to retrive the package.

The scan, last I heard was voluntary.

Jesus Christ, it's an airport. I've been to bars where they frisk people for weapons. Why do you and CPK69 see this as some affront to your civil rights? It's not that big of a deal. I agree with you that some security measures are seemingly ridiculous. I visit a friend of mine in a minimum security prison often. Everytime I go, I get frisked and occassionally I get an ionic scanner waved over me. I don't mind the frisking, but I have serious doubts about those damn ionic scanners, they are known to give false positives. I've seen old ladies going to visit their granddaughters get pulled to the side when that damn thing beeped. I luckily know better; I wash my hands before I get there, don't wear any aftershave, and I don't handle money prior to going in. I hate it, but I understand that it is a prison. I know that I either abide by the rules, or I don't see my friend. Likewise, I know that flying is not a right. If I want to travel on an airline; I submit to the rules, or I don't fly. It's that damn simple. If it bothers y'all that much, go live in a bunker.

this is one of the sillier things i have read here.

It is to YOUR benefit as a passenger that they do this. I certainly want every precaution there is when myself and my family board a plane.

If you feel you are being treated like the enemy then stay out of the freaking airport. And don't go to pick your kid up at school, cause you will be treated like the *gasp* enemy there too as you pass through a metal detector and get scanned if you set it off.  The same with inner city hospitals.

Your best bet is to never leave your house again. That'll teach 'em!!!!!!!!!

I love to fly............when I have the time and money. If they want to see my various bits and pieces to confirm I am not going to blow the plane I up.........I am good with that.

Just let me on the damned plane!

Rights, schmights.  I'd rather have my "rights" violated a little and have a little piece of mind when getting on an aircraft.  This might come as a shock to some, but there are lunatics out in the world who strap bombs to themselves and others who take guns with them onto airplanes and then do really bad things when that plane is high up in the air.  I'd rather be a little "violated" than explode at 35,000 feet.
