Ye olde tradition is that you wrap a new set in silk cloth and place under your pillow while you sleep to bind them to your subconscious.  The full moon is an auspicious time for this.

[sm=waves.gif]  Sign me up, Lally, I used to read tarot all the time and know you need practice. I use the Tarot of the Cat People deck, ohhhhh, how I love the artwork! That deck has worked marvelously for me for years.

If you need any info, just cmail me.

Had that deck and my dog enjoyed eating up my cards:) ..

ShellyD -> RE: tarot readings. (5/20/2009 10:42:32 PM)

Hi Lally,
I would love a tarot reading done for me, I am in dire need of a boost/some advice oh how to go about the next step in my love life...

windchymes -> RE: tarot readings. (5/21/2009 2:04:08 PM)

Yes, it is possible to do "remote" card readings.  I just concentrate on the person and their issues and questions, spread them out and pick ten as though they were doing it.  It's works quite well.

I love my Morgan Greer deck.  It's the only deck that actually "talked" to me.

If you're still looking for volunteers, it would be great to have a reading done by someone other than myself....I get so biased!  lol

I wondered what the silk was for when I was given my set.  Thank you for clearing that up.  It has only been over ten years.

i have no knowledge of tarot. i actually thought you had to be present in person to do cards?

but, sure.....

Not necessary angel. Cards readings can be done without the other person being present with the reader!

This is entirely untrue. Both the diviner and questioner need to be present to project their auras. The relationship of the first six cards may also be interpreted by both parties after further discussion. If you are doing this in a Celtic manner, it would be impossible to select a Significator card accurately without being in person.

Just my thoughts.

hi guys - sorry, had alot going on these past couple of days  - im going to try and get most of you guys read by the weekend though.  was doing the celtic cross but i think ill just do the general spread instead, fewer cards, wont take so long.

each reading takes a while cos i do alot of visualisation and meditation and then trying to work out the symbolism of what im seeing takes time -

hang in there, i will get to you  [:)] xx

I'm interested in what you call "general spread".....I usually use Celtic Cross, but get bored with it and would like to try some others. [:)]   I've done "past, present, future", but it doesn't really do much for me.  And, I've done a really involved one that I forget the name of, but it has twelve piles of three cards laid out like a clock. ????  It's a good one, but just a little too involved for my tastes.

have you tried to use 3 cards per position? i am big on the planetary spread and horoscope spread for generals.

the general spread is shorter and just gives a general overview, but ive changed my mind again.  ive just done Sirsholly and did the question and answer thread. i think ill just use what ever spread seems appropriate to each person.

there are loads to try out.  ill see if i can find a link on spreads, ow should know loads!!!

one i like is the gypsy spread.  you pull 7 for the present and put them in a row, then 7 for the past and put them under the present in a row then another 7 for the future, again in a row below the present. so youll have 3 rows of seven cards 21 cards in total.  its usually best to read the past, then the present then the future and then pull all the cards together, connecting past to present to future and so on

Yes, that exactly the one I tried, and maybe it was the cards I picked, but it just didn't seem to "say" anything.  I guess I like Celtic Cross because it gives more guidance, especially the column up the side, "current situation, family & friends around, hopes and fears, final outcome".  (That's a real loose generalization, I know, lol)  I'll give it a couple more tries before I rule it out completely. [:)]

lally, that gypsy spread sounds intriguing, using 7 cards per row.  I'll give that one a shot, too, thanks!   Good luck with your learning journey!

As a side note, it's it amazing how the cards relevant to the questions asked almost always seem to come up.  Skeptics say you can make the cards "mean" whatever you want them to, but that's just not true now, is it?

the funny thing is with the cards i use is their symbolism too.  there was one that came up on a question that was really phallic!! - it was appropriate too. so you have to use the visual and the meaning together.

but yes, it makes me laugh sometimes when i see the cards turn up to a question and you know what they mean and in a certain sequance it can be mind blowing.

but these cards are fascinating because theyre meanings remain the same but the message is always different within that meaning, if you see what i mean.  theyre quite tricky cos i need to use visualisation to get whats going on.

anyhoo, better go to bed.  night x

im finding this not to be the case.  what i was finding was that my own recent life/thoughts and stuff were interferring and i have had to start again.  is why its taken a bit of time to get into a rythem with it.  but thats the only hiccup ive had in ensuring im getting the right cards.  the last reading i did the cards were incredibly clear.
