I wear a beard from November through March, more or less.

I like how I look with a beard, and I don't especially like shaving.  OTOH, I like the feel of being clean shaven.

I have to keep it closely trimmed or else I look like a bum.

*lol*...I never thought that a beard can have so much to do with avoiding "to look like a bum" or covering scars or to avoid looking younger. I never thought there are so many reasons behind liking a beard...

Really thank you very much for sharing your view

I hate checking my bag at the airport, and so when I have to go travel for business or whatever, I usually have a beard. I like to use a real razor, and so they'd never let me on the plane with it. So donning a beard becomes necessary. Quite scratchy though after a few days.

Men grow beards because they have pudenda envy and therefore, grow hair around their mouths to imitate the female accessories.

I hate beards, but, I have one for a number of reasons.
A: It makes my face/neck look a lot less... fat/flabby
B:  I look like a pre-pubescent chipmunk without it.
C:  It also covers a nasty old old scar.  Some scars can be attractive... this one is not.
D:  It makes me look like jesus when it and my hair is grown out... fun times to be had, with some of the jokes I know. ;)
E:  I'm too lazy to shave the whole thing off all the time.

An explanation about curly and straight beards.

Men with straight hair grow straight beards.  They look good with little effort.

Men like me with wavy or curly hair grow curly beards.  If they get any kind of length, they make me look like a bum or a madman.

Would be fun to see you without your beard, according to your description...though I guess that's not going to happen *sigh*

Nevertheless, thanks for the nice insight about how many reasons there can be...never thought that there can be so many reasons behind it as i always thought it is only about that some people just like beards or are too lazy to shave...but I never thought about possibilities such as hiding a scar, or that the face appears....thinner...thank you

Having a beard rather depresses me as it makes me look ten years older, on the other hand I'm really too old to be playing Peter Pan so it's probably a good reality check.

A goatee is ok but I prefer my men without facial hair. So I have my sub keep his face clean shaven (as well as the rest of him).

I don't particularly care one way or another, but for some men, it might be easier to grow one...  I had a few dates with a gentleman who shaved, but even when he told me he shaved 1-2hours ago, his stubs would scratch and chaffe the hell out of me, and basically, I was uninspired to go back.

Obviously, no man is made or broken by his beard, but it's usually a combination of things, so, I'd rather a clean shaven beard if the alternative is going to be painful for days after I see him.    M

I'm not a fan of beards. As others have said...itchy, not as nice to look at... I like clean shaven.

BUT...

I *adore* the scruffy 5 o'clock shadow yummy-ness. You could scratch me anywhere with 5 o'clock shadow and all I'll do is purrrrr.....

For some reason...some strange, strange reason... I just love that it's so rough.

*sighs*

Hmmm.

I will say that I think facial hair works for men the same way accessories work for females.

If I were a man, I think I'd have lightening bolt side burns- just because I could.

*laughs*
