I think i understand you quite well, and it happens on all forums, but i do not understand it.

I thought it has partly an innocent reason, something along the lines of, i will show that i notice your question and i would really like to help you, but i can not because i have no personal experience and i can not imagine the situation.

And then there are surely the attention whores, but are we not all as participants here ähm interested in attention, ok some are more than others.

Ok honestly...and this is a little embarrassing to admit, but i feel the same as what you just said LMAO...... i just wanted someone to AGREE with me LOL!
OMG.... i swear i'm not as shallow as i just made myself sound![:(]

i have always been a proponant of honesty and plain speaking...i suppose i better be able to back it up eh?

i have noticed of late there are a few people that will answer a question(post on a thread) just to say the "can't really answer this but, ...."  then go on talking about how that (the thread they are replying to) doesn't really apply to them. So if you say i can't answer because this doesn't apply to you, and just go on to list ...i do this, or master does that.....  what is the real goal? To show what a wonderful "s" type you are? to show what a great "D" type you are? to show what a great relationship you have?....what?....i mean it was already stated "i can't really answer this but, ....."

My guess would be that despite the fact that they may not have any xp with the question itself, they still have insight into it.
What's the big deal about. I have seen people on these boards, including yourself, pull up the 'its a public message board and I can post anywhere I want' card. All of a sudden though, you find it 'interesting'?
Uh huh

Not sure about this.. but I am guessing it is because they are happy.  Funny how that happens.

Why thankyou; though I can't take credit for actually thinking it up myself. There was a college that uses it or used to use it as their closing line.

i suppose what i see more than shameless plugs of "perfect" relationships is the statement....ymmv....could we just once, for the sake of argument, all agree that everyones mileage may vary and just actually discuss a topic?

*laughs* I have had that thought so many times. "Look, don't we all get it that my reality is mine alone and whatever I say about someone else's can, at best, be only partially relevant... at best." The answer though, is "no". I don't believe I've seen a single thread on these boards in god knows how long where no matter what someone said, someone else didn't pop up with, "But wait! That's not my reality". BDSM folk have find an awful lot of need to defend their reality I've noticed.
