Somebody who doesn't buy high end quality is usually not able to put a price tag on the clothes and it's fairly easy to tone it down a bit, I love good shoes and quality items, the high end ones come without flashy labels, it's only the mid-price range that will flash the label. Somebody who hasn't come in contact with the high end stuff can possibly tell if your shoes, handbag, skirt, etc. is of a good make or from a cheap department store, but they usually can't tell how much more you've spent.
If I had friends who would be in a peculiar financial situation, I would make sure that when seeing them, I would be dressed in jeans and rather simple gear.
As for them being obviously very poor and you're rather comfortable, why not offer them a small job? House cleaning or anything like that? Something where they wouldn't feel they are getting charity but they earn it. I had such a case a few years ago with a young girl who was an au-pair in a family that was simply despicable, I would have hurt her feelings offering her charity, so I suggested to take her on as an au-pair, pay her the fair rate and she was looking after the house and had enough time to find other jobs. I was quite happy to have somebody staying with me and not having to worry about stacking the dish washer or throwing the washing machine or dryer on, I didn't really need a house keeper, but it was light duty for her and it made my life easier, we were both happy and her money worries were sorted. I don't think that showing her the receipt of something I bought cheap would have helped her situation.

I think all Dominas should wear leather 24/7

Just a thought [8D]

I think that would fall into the category of too much of a good thing.

The nice thing about leather and fashion is it can contrast nicely to other materials. Think black leather with a tweed or wool blazer.

It depends on your friends.
I have a serious fashion habit, and the income to afford it.
My bestest girl friend's about to have her second baby, her husbands lost his job which was their only source of income, and their mortgage rate was fixed a month before the crash.
I will go to k-mart to buy whatevers on special, wear it for visiting them and find some excuse to bring up the receipt when I'm over there, because they're are suffering and I feel so guilty. They're lucky to have a dollar left over at the end of the week, and I spend thousands on luxuries.
She's offered herself to me for baby money.
So has he.
But I don't play with vanilla's or married's. So I've done what other things I can with them, you know to help.
If they had money, I'd buy so much fashion. But they don't, so I do it slow, on the down low.

That reminds me of the stories I have heard of shoppers in New York carrying their high end purchases around in bags from cheaper stores. I guess this new kind of thinking is the reverse of the 1980s abomination called the Cadillac Cimarron.

I would find this very patronising. If you cant visit me dressed as you normally do, then dont bother to turn up. I take people for what they are, and not what they have. That applies in both directions of the financial scale.
