SubjectProperty -> RE: MONITORING THE MODERATORS (2/8/2006 9:18:50 AM)

My profile does not change with each thread but remains the same. I note some of those who are malevolent individuals who are know for causing trouble have made their usual contribution here today. They trive on falsehood and insults and cannot post anything without insulting someone.

SubjectProperty -> RE: MONITORING THE MODERATORS (2/8/2006 9:21:30 AM)

That was a clear example of bad Moderatorship and clearly showed evidence of individual bias and prejudice on the respective moderators part.

There's actually a "block" feature on the CM messageboards here. If you click the little red hand in the bottom left of each post it will block that individual and you don't have to read his/her posts.

Mostly, I skim over the ones that insult me. Or read themand see if I was in the wrong, which happens with some frequency.

As to the Mods, I've found that even if they've said something "mean" on a thread, they aren't any more likely to pull and/or alter that thread than any other one. That is, even if they've said something against a poster, barring violation of the TOS or something similar, they won't -do- anything to that poster, nor act toward that poster differently than they do the rest of us. Even -if- they've criticized him/her.

I was referring to the fact that you started this thread under the name of SubjectProperty and then went on to respond under the name OwnedSubject....it's really a bit confusing.

You harbor a false believe then. I have been a member for years but rarely ever posted though often read other peoples posts and seen the responses from the malevolent people. I date back to 2002.

hmmmm--then why does it say--joined 11/25/05 and 12/07/05?

does anyone else think this person maybe isnt all there?? i mean there is clear evidence right in the thread that he changed names and yet he says he didnt........or does the person just like trouble??.....who knows, i say we ignore anymore posts by them.

BlkTallFullfig -> RE: MONITORING THE MODERATORS (2/8/2006 1:09:02 PM)

SubjectProperty,
Clearly you aren't a person of strong convictions, because if I had joined a site and within one month thought that it sucked, I would ask for my money back and leave. [&:] M

Nor can he decide if he's from DC, TN, GA, or the UK. I would say you are not the one confused, erin.

Aileen68 -> RE: MONITORING THE MODERATORS (2/8/2006 2:10:49 PM)

Let's see. You seem to have a problem with the moderators. A problem with the posters.
And a problem with the site in general. What don't you have problems with?
One thing I can say about you is that you're efficient. All of this in the few weeks that you've been a member.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong because I've been here for months and have none of these problems.
Hey. Why don't you start a thread on unanswered or rude emails just to make sure all bases are covered.

Gauge -> RE: MONITORING THE MODERATORS (2/8/2006 2:55:00 PM)

I used to be a moderator for a large ISP doing message boards and chat monitoring. We always heard from people such as yourself as to the violation of Free Speech and other given rights. I would always reply with a link to the Terms Of Service agreement that they "signed" and agreed to by using that ISP. The fact is that Collarme.com has their own Terms Of Service. Since it has been a while since I have joined I do not recall if they have you agree to terms of service when you join although I wouldn't think that they wouldn't. When you agree to the TOS you are bound to operate within their specifications. If the TOS requires you to dress in fuzzy bunny slippers and a Barney costume and type with your nose in order to post on the forums... that is what they require. If you don't do as they have outlined then they have every right to ban your stupid ass from the site that they are giving you for free.

Don't threaten a lawsuit because you will lose miserably. And certainly don't stick around and vent your spleen because, honestly, no one here gives a rats ass what you think is wrong with the site. The Mods do a fine job and keep order... if you have had occasion to be on the receiving end of a rebuke from the Mods then you weren't behaving and got your hand slapped. I have gotten in some exchanges with others on this site and have aired my viewpoints without violating the TOS. If you find that, as an "adult", you cannot control yourself and follow simple, well defined guidelines then there is a vast Internet out there that would be more than happy to have you complain about their FREE SERVICE.

It never ceases to amaze me that people can look a gift horse in the mouth. The owners of this site pay for your right to complain about their site... now, do us all a favor and stick your tail between your legs and mosey on out of here before I get really irritated.

What do members and even moderators think about my suggestion please?
------

i do not like OR agree on everything from or about mods

but i as yet have NOT proved they have done it with malice

though at times i feel maybe it is...it aint anyway

proudsub -> RE: MONITORING THE MODERATORS (2/8/2006 3:28:14 PM)

Except for a recent 6 mo. hiatus, I've been on this site for at least 3 yrs and have never seen an unfair moderator. I am wondering if the OP has read the TOS and knows why the moderators do what they do.

caitlyn -> RE: MONITORING THE MODERATORS (2/8/2006 3:35:45 PM)

Excellent post Gauge, as usual.

I once had my hand slapped by a moderator ... and will admit that at the time I didn't agree with it. I did manage to keep my head and avoid ranting and raving ... although in truth it was touch and go. I had the rant typed ... just managed to get myself together before I hit send. [;)]

Over the next few days I thought it over and decided that the moderator was right and I was wrong. My "contribution" in that instance was not designed to further the debate ... it was only designed to make me look like I was winning ... and to cause more trouble. I think I was just bored that day.

So ... I ended up apologizing to the moderator, and to be quite honest, ended up feeling pretty stupid ... but, things have been roses ever since, so I learned my lesson.

The moderators do an A+ job on here ... and that's an opinion from someone that was once "moderated." [;)]

It's a waste of bandwidth and bandwidth costs $. Personally, I think the mods show incredible restraint for the crap they have to go through.

Rock on, Mods. Some of us appreciate what you provide here.

Aileen68 -> RE: MONITORING THE MODERATORS (2/8/2006 4:11:00 PM)

Caitlyn I can't imagine you ever being put on moderation with your sweet little innocent responses.

*smirk*

caitlyn -> RE: MONITORING THE MODERATORS (2/8/2006 4:38:06 PM)

You know ... it was just a string of topics where I decided to be a complete bitch, I guess. I don't know what I was thinking.

To add to my story, I was never actually put on moderation. I was sent a very polite message by a moderator. In truth, the moderator's actions were ... well ... very moderate. If I was the moderator, I probably would have sent something like:

LOOK CAITLYN: There are many wonderful boards on Collarme, none of which are labeled, "Lets Trash Other People's Lifestyle!" You may consider that intentional." [;)]

SirKenin -> RE: MONITORING THE MODERATORS (2/8/2006 4:51:03 PM)

I think some of the moderators side with certain cliques, in the way that they are far more leniant with them than with others, allowing much more to pass.

Now, with that said. They also give those that are not in those books a fair shake in that they will produce several warnings, allowing you to pick up your socks. In that alone I think that they achieve far more than mods I have seen on other boards who think they are the king/queen of the universe because they have some extra buttons to play with.

So, I think if I had to make a choice I would take it this way.

ModeratorEleven -> RE: MONITORING THE MODERATORS (2/8/2006 4:56:21 PM)

You're right. We tend to side with the clique that follows the rules of the system [;)]
