MstrPBK -> the "Master Of Masters" (5/26/2009 10:43:34 AM)

Recently an acquaintance of mine from another online site used this phrase to suggest that he might "submit to that one person". My question: Is this phrase more fictionalized ... or ... is this more if a metaphore ... or ... is this a realistic phrase to be using?

AND yes I already have my own thoughts on this; I just wanted to see what a collected group of minds thought on this.

I'd kind of assume this was just something personal your friend came up with.

As to the question of if I'd be tempted to sub to someone....Nah, tried it, didn't like it. It wasn't the pain, I have a higher tolerance than my girl, it was more that my brain just wasn't made to submit...

Tho, there's one or two Dommes on here I would love to see try [:D]

the only time I've heard the term "Master of Masters" is in Church to refer to God.

I'd say your friend has switch tendencies and is using this as a way around the switch term.

[sm=poke.gif]  If you tried to dom my Sir you might have trouble moving for a while . [:D]

He so doesn't have sub tendencies.[sm=duel.gif]

an almost biblical story about the Master of Masters

I'm with littlewonder, seems like an easy way for your friend to explain away their submissive side. Some Dom's dont like to admit that sometimes, they too would like to take part on the other side; perhaps to them it would undermine their overall personal dominance. I had a friend once say 'If it feels good, it aint wrong', so thats how I look at it.

HeavansKeeper -> RE: the "Master Of Masters" (5/26/2009 9:13:30 PM)

This reminds me of a "Man's man." (Not to be confused with a gentleman's gentleman).

The alpha male sort who is charismatic, courageous, confident, somewhat cocky but charming.

While I have no urge to serve* other men, I can understand the "submissive" feeling instilled. I know that "Aye Captain!" feeling. The same way I felt the need to specify my not being into men reminds me of dominants who are diametrically opposed to serving. For a concept like D/s to be on a scale, there are sure a lot of people who admit to being exclusively to one side. I dare not call someone a liar about their own mind/body, but I define service in many forms. These forms can include "exclusively dominant" people by way of technicality**. Would being a service top denote "serving"? Would being an assistant top denote serving? Many people have heroes in the D/s world they'd enjoy working alongside. I could spew a few names I'd gladly "support" if it let me work with them.

*Here "serve" means "acting the way I expect my pet to act, and doing what I would expect her to do."
** Labels are always somewhat arbitrary, and operational definitions can fit any person into any label.

First I've heard of it.

Aylee -> RE: the "Master Of Masters" (5/26/2009 9:32:58 PM)

Perhaps the Master of Ceremonies for the Masters Tournament?  He would be the Master of Masters.  Other than that, it sounds like another belief in the "uber-dom."

Lockit -> RE: the "Master Of Masters" (5/26/2009 10:10:44 PM)

I've heard it... straight from the horses mouth so to speak.  I'm a master of master's... asked to train slave's and trusted by the other master's, looked upon and regarded very highly.  I wasn't impressed.

HeavansKeeper, you have such a way with words[:D]

first off...nice answer tazzygirl!

People can give them selves any title they want but its how you live that earns you that title. A true Alpha Male will not submit but will chose death over the shame of serving another.

The same choice is what a Master of Masters would take. if there was such a creature around?

lol

There's a more common term for this.

It's called "bicurious switch."

thank you army

question though

would a man who was secure in his masculinity, his dominance, really chose death over service?  to me, such a man has a strong survival instinct... too strong to willingly chose death

army101 -> RE: the "Master Of Masters" (5/27/2009 11:52:34 AM)

Nice question and there are several answers. To be abused in all ways by others mistreated in many horrible ways, then death would be welcome.

For instance if my hair was shorn and I was blinded by my enemy and chained to the pillars spat on whipped teased and abused by my former enemys escape would not come but death and vengance on those if I can do it?

Myself I would rather die in battle or in escaping than to slowly die in a camp in a jungle starving beaten every day for their fun and used in other ways that arent natural. A Alpha Person wont last very long in his enemies hands its just not in his nature to submit and serve very long. It is much easier for those with a timid nature to submit and continue on in a enemys camp in servitude until they die weak and abused.

For the serious alpha males I've known, it's no contest.
For them it's a matter of  "I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees".

heh, yet another vote for me being "not a true alpha male". I have known several other leaders throughout my life that I was quite content to serve. Honestly, only a damned fool looks at someone else and says, "Wow, they are a GREAT leader in this context. But I'm too stubborn to follow them so I'll go do something wrong instead."

A "true alpha male" can be easily identified, but whether they are currently serving another or not is not even remotely relevant to the question. Frankly, what I hear you describe as a "true alpha male" to me sounds an awful lot like a wannabe. Carol likes to say, "The guy in the lamborghini does not need to race out of the stoplight just because the kid in the souped up honda civic revs his engine. Everyone already knows who's got the faster car."

Wow!  What a selfish POS a "true-alpha male" or "Master of Masters" would be.

tazzygirl -> RE: the "Master Of Masters" (5/27/2009 4:32:51 PM)

such a man might also realize (as many great leaders do) that the opportunity for escape and freedom may reveal itself.  the knees may bend, the will may not.

army101 -> RE: the "Master Of Masters" (5/28/2009 8:09:44 AM)

Yes but another point is that you cant live life on your knees. You must stand on your feet no matter what life gives you! A person should only answer to their own self and not others as you must live with your self.
