Aylee -> Heels (5/26/2009 4:19:14 PM)

Due to popular demand for this information I decided to just start a thread.

Heels –
Nothing less than two inches ~ four if it is a really hot date
Practice walking in them at home; say while cooking, until they become second nature
Make sure they fit properly; otherwise walking elegantly will be difficult
If you are going to be wearing them with nylons make sure that you try them on with nylons FIRST!  It makes a difference
It is going to be painful.
Use insert pads to cushion the balls of your feet
Do calf exercises (Standing with your heels off a step and raising up and down)
Take care of your feet when they are not in heels
Comfy ~ straps are usually a good bet, even better, Gucci stiletto pump
If your feet REALLY start to hurt when you are out, then take off your shoes and dance on the bar/chair/ table.  Or go home.
If you are going to a movie or a dinner, keep in mind that you will be sitting down most of the time.
Remember ~ sore tootsies is the PERFECT excuse to ask your date for a foot rub at the end of the night.

PanthersMom -> RE: Heels (5/26/2009 6:11:57 PM)

sigh, these feet will never see heels again.  they don't make diabetic high heel shoes, lol!

PM

KyttynTheMynx -> RE: Heels (5/26/2009 6:15:12 PM)

Thanks Ayleeeee!!!  You so rock!

DesFIP -> RE: Heels (5/26/2009 6:37:23 PM)

Back in my 20's I could, and did, walk miles in heels without a problem. Now in my mid 50's, I wear them only if I'm going to be sitting down with them slipped off most of the time or preferably lying down.

missturbation -> RE: Heels (5/26/2009 6:37:40 PM)

Wow lol.
For me it is second nature to wear heels and i don't do any of the stuff you mentioned except pamper my feet every so often.
Good stuff though [:D]
I only have one disagreement [:o]

I'd say nothing less than 4 inches ~ 6 - 6.5 if it's a hot  date and 7 - scream if it's a bed date [;)]

pissthirstysub -> RE: Heels (5/26/2009 6:49:39 PM)

I can't wear heels because of my knee. I miss them dearly.

As a note. . . if you are wearing 4 inch heels or higher all the time, you can mess up your achilles tendon (shorten in I believe) which means that it can become impossible to wear flat shoes.

Another note. . . typically hells higher than 4 inches have those clear platforms on them.  I think that they look awful.  Hence, I would not reccommend them.  OTOH ~ If YOU like them, and they make you feel gorgous and seeeeexahy!  For gary's sake, wear them, and don't listen to me (not that YOU were going to.)

Ouch that's not good. I've managed about ten years though and i can still wear flats.

You've been looking in the wrong places then, most of mine are 4 inch plus and only one pair has a clear platform, one a silver and one black. Most are just plain flat to the floor.

I'm liking this thread.... Can we call it "Ask Aylee" [:)]

I love wearing heels but I hate having my toes squished! Years ago I had ingrown toenails (both big toes) so I'm a little sensitive. Anyway, should I just stick to open toed heels?

missturbation -> RE: Heels (5/26/2009 7:08:04 PM)

Nope, just find a place that does different width fittings.

Aylee -> RE: Heels (5/26/2009 7:08:40 PM)

Sorry Misst. . . I misread your post.  I read it as that you wore them every second, instead of second-nature.

And likely I was looking in the wrong places for heels higher than four-inches.  Location, location, location.  If I was to try again I would try the nicer malls and shoe stores.

girlygurl -> RE: Heels (5/26/2009 7:10:18 PM)

I love this place [:D] Shoe shopping anyone? http://www.dsw.com/dsw_shoes/catalog/index.jsp?cm_mmc=Google-_-DSW%20Brand%20Product_BP%20Shoes-_-exact-_-dsw%20shoes

Good idea, thanks

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Heels (5/26/2009 7:14:50 PM)

When I was a teacher I wore heels all the time, to get that extra bit of height over the kids... now, I live behind a desk in an office, and almost always wear flats!  I have some heels, and sometimes wear them, but they aren't the first thing I reach for.

I very rarely wear flats but do occasionally for work if i know its going to be really busy.
I have some excellent websites for shoes but they are all UK ones.

Well, what I usually tell people is that I will always give you my opinion.  But no gaurantees.[:D]

That or buy them in wider sizes.  I am betting that a place like "Brown's Shoe Fit" (I think that is the name) would have them or be able to order them.

soul2share -> RE: Heels (5/26/2009 8:54:04 PM)

Sorry, guys...any heel over an inch high and I run the probability of A) getting a nosebleed from the altitude.....or B) doing like Holly and falling down and going *BOOM*, more than likely spraining something important.

Signed, Ms. Flat footed and proud of it!

Nothing less than two inches ~ four if it is a really hot date
Darn - I measured all my cowboy boots and the highest was inch and three quarters - I knew there was a problem! Quess no hot dates for me!
Practice walking in them at home; say while cooking, until they become second nature

Aylee what is it with you and cooking. I already said I'd cook.
Make sure they fit properly; otherwise walking elegantly will be difficult

Yeah - I like the ones that lace better than the slip on ones.
If you are going to be wearing them with nylons make sure that you try them on with nylons FIRST!  It makes a difference
Okay - nylons it is but you got to promise not to tell the guys at the feed store!
It is going to be painful.

Promises, promises!
Use insert pads to cushion the balls of your feet

If I cut them out of an old inner tube will that do?
Do calf exercises (Standing with your heels off a step and raising up and down)

Are you supposed to be holding the calf while standing on the step or are you supposed to hold it to help keep you balance. And what are you supposed to say when the other cowboys ask you what the heck you are doing?
Take care of your feet when they are not in heels

Hot water and epsom salts it is.
Comfy ~ straps are usually a good bet, even better, Gucci stiletto pump

Are the straps so you can pull yourself up by the boot straps? don't have no stiletto pump. Will a tire pump work?
If your feet REALLY start to hurt when you are out, then take off your shoes and dance on the bar/chair/ table.  Or go home.

YEH HAW bare foot table dancing at the grange!!
If you are going to a movie or a dinner, keep in mind that you will be sitting down most of the time.

At the drive in we mostly lie in our truck beds or in the back seats of the cars. Is that okay? and darn it you done told me that I had to be wearing heels and walking to make dinner!
Remember ~ sore tootsies is the PERFECT excuse to ask your date for a foot rub at the end of the night.

I asked her for a foot rub she said she had never hear of anything so disgusting and she slapped me what did I do wrong ;-(

This is wonderful advice Aylee, but I thought there was a secret to making them not hurt....  I knew they were made by male sadists. [sm=bite.gif]
