I think it has more to do with having the proper headspace at the time than anything else.

Sounds like your gagging is a state of mind and not the urine itself.
Most people into having there pee consumed by a sub will make sure they are drinking plenty of water beforehand, mainly so there is lots of pee but also because they don't want there sub to be tasting really strong pee. Drinking someones early morning piss is going to make the best of us gag.
Remember also that the scene in which it is done can make all the difference.

Politesub is right... pee does dehydrate and so make sure you drink plenty of water or better still, lemonade afterwards

Of the available choices (drinking your own urine....or fully consuming the person seated next to you in the aisle seat).....I think I'd have to go with drinking your own urine.
