ORIGINAL: servantforuse Gridlock in Congress is a good thing.. Why would a government unable to act on behalf of the people be a good thing ? Because it means they aren't spending our money, or getting any new taxes approved... Thadius, How would you run the country otherwise ? What mechanisms would you suggest that actually work ? No government at all would be way more detrimental to the US than partisan politics. Politesub, the beauty of it, is that there are already enough tax laws and spending projects on the books. In general, the only time gridlock gets broken is when it is something that is needed, or in case of an emergency. The less they get done (in terms of writing new laws or new taxes) the better off my wallet and way of life are in the long run. Yes, that sounds selfish, but it doesn't make it any less true.
