Bear,
I am with you on the most recent memory. It was a beautiful weekend, spent with the most wonderful people. My memories of that weekend will always be special and bittersweet.

I have no favorite memories of my childhood. It is a hell best left in the dust cupboards of my mind.

to me, happy memories are almost all associated with smells.

my grandmother's house and the smell of certain cookie spices. being told by my grandpa that his "family secret" pumpkin pie came from the back of the pumpkin tin. the smell of popcorn. the smell of freshly cut grass. the smell of my babies' heads after a bath.

the smell of a certain kind of coffee mixed with hospital smells reminds me of my last cup of coffee in the private room i had at the little hospital where i had my youngest fruit. i clearly remember sipping it in a comfy chair. looking at the garden outside. and thinking to myself. enjoy this quiet. it will be the last for the next 18 years [:)]

the first time i laid eyes on each one of my offspring.  that instantaneous love that hits you as a parent.  my first night with cub.  so many special memories over the years.

In Tokyo, finding that I could easily get to the theatre I was looking for without getting lost. Even though I didn't get to see any of the shows I bought a couple of photobooks and some other memorabilia of two of my favourite performers.
It was really gorgeous, a perfect Spring day; bright and sunny without being hot with a lovely cool breeze blowing through the trees. I found a large park with a fountain and bandstand where some performers were rehearsing for later that night. Just being able to sit there eating an ice cream and enjoying the wonderful day was bliss. The cherry blossom wasn't out yet but quite a few other tree were putting on a beautiful display and there were families having picnics, it really felt like everyone there was just so relaxed, such a wonderful atmosphere.

The whole thing was improved by the fact that up until then it had been wet and rainy and I'd been sick for the entire holiday. It was like I'd been given a nice little break in the middle of a less than brilliant trip.

Living with and caring for my father in his last months of life. I thank God for such a gift.

Finding my 10 speed bike in storage that my mom had bought me for my birthday. Taking it out for a ride, AND getting it back into storage before she got home for work [:)]

One memory I can really roll my eyes at and laugh was my infatuation with Billy ray cirus. One time on vacation the KOA bathroom loud speaker had Achey breaky heart playing an once I knew it I ran into the bathroom just to listen to his song and day dream about how fucking dreamy he was.

LOL, happened to me too. I heard a song playing from the radio "QUEEN" and I ran into the kitchen where my Mom was cooking and fell and slid flat on my ass and my mom couldn't stop laughing. A fond memory!

My favorite memory is at age 13 my father got me tickets to see Jerry Lewis in Damn Yankees, I had the biggest crush on Jerry Lewis at the time and I remember how much in awe I was, it was my first broadway play and I got to go by myself and I was in the fifth row, middle seat. I was in love lol, I remember the heat of the flames on stage and the shock of seeing the naked butts of all the adult men in a locker room scene.

The first day Master and I met, he walked into the room, didn't even knock and set his stuff  on the table. I just stood there staring at him, he took me into his arms and kissed me deeply neither one of us saying a word and him leading me gently as we kissed to the bed. The rest of the day is a blur but a good one.

The day I finally was able to move in with my mom and stepdad and not have to go back ever again.

My daughters birth and then her wedding.

I was 9 and my mom got us kids tickets to see the Osmonds. Oh yes, I loved Donny Osmond. [:(]

I had on my purple hat, purple pants and purple fur coat! From the screaming kids, baby brother got trampled on, my other brother got front row seat! And someone tore my purple coat. A fond memory.

Remembering that the last time I saw my dad alive, I threw my arms around hi, squeezed him hard, kissed him soundly on the cheek and said "I love ya dad!!". I'm glad I said it before it was too late.

Tasting belgian chocolate for the first time and understanding what an oral orgasm really was.

Having that last contraction and my son FINALLY getting the hell out of my vagina, and thanking god it was a boy and that he would never have to feel that pain.

Watching Lawrence Welk with Grandma Mur
Watching her walk down the block in her dress, hat and heels walking to the bustop to catch the bus to Marshall Fields
Watching her do dance steps in the living room(she was a former chorus line tap dancer)
Being taken with her on the bus to go to Marshall Fields and having a sundae in The Walnut Room.

My youngest memory is one of my favorite ones.  When I was 3 my parents took me and my brother on a trip to Mexico.  What is so vivid is climbing up on one of the mayan pyrmids with my grandfather. I also remember that we were in a small mexican villiage and there was a donkey that loved drinking coca cola straight out of the botttle.  I also remember the little marionte (sp) puppets my parents got us.

Getting a bicycle at age 5 or 6, riding it and getting hit by a car. The hit part wasn't so much a favorite memory, the awesome scar/scab I had on the side of my face was, as was the string of profanity I got away with immediately following. Oh, and the flying through the air part was fun until my head dented a bumper of a parked car.

That was a favorite memory, because since then, before that even, no matter what's thrown at me, or what tries to kill me, I keep pushing forward.

The beginning of the Masochistic nature??  Hmmm???

I think the beginning of my masochistic nature began when I was a little younger and fell face first off my mom's Pinto, or perhaps it was the time I climbed 20 feet up a 40 foot ladder and fell on my ass when I was even younger. I was quicker when I was younger, and I bounced very well. And thanking my guardian angels and knocking on wood, the only serious injury I've ever had is a cracked collarbone.

being about 6 yrs old.. laying on the back seat of the car as mom and I drove to my grandparents house at night..  Watching out the back window as we'd drive under the trees, then seeing stars.. the 'whoop de whoop' road.  getting to their house and hugging Grandy (my grandfather) and being enveloped in his special smell...

lusciouslips19 -> RE: Tell Lushy your favorite memories..... (6/8/2009 7:16:02 AM)

Way back when there were no seat belt laws. We were supposed to be leaving for Orlando in the morning but dad was too excited to sleep. So he piled us 3 girls in our jammies in the back of the Gremlin. The storage was on the top of the car and the back seat was down. We were all laying down watching the night sky out the hatch back.

Leaving home for the first time at 17 and moving to a huge city to work at my first full time job! I still recall the fear of living in a city where I know absolutely no one and that was nixed with he exhilaration of finally being on my own and complete independant of parental support!

@lusciouslips19, my grandma worked at Marshall Fields too. And watching her walk down the block in her dress, hat and heels walking to the bus stop to catch the bus! I always thought that was my memory but we share the same. [sm=yourock.gif]

Going with her to downtown Mashall Fields during the weekends and watching so many people in one place! Eating at the Walnut Room.

During Christmas grandma would take us to Marshall Fields to watch the windows of Marshall Fields.
