Being in the hospital, that first moment when I saw my daughter's eyes, when she grabbed my little finger and looked at me so serenly, then promplty crapped on the table :)

thinking back on it still brings a tear to my eye

Just a fragment of one.....

Being about 5-6 years old, driving over Donner Pass on I-80 in the middle of the night during a gorgeous snowstorm yet watching it fall so softly, gently, brightly, since we had a VistaCruiser and we were laying down, all snuggled up in blankets, looking up through the window in the roof. God, I loved that wagon. To this day, I remember how quiet it was, the snow falling, warm and snug, it's one of my most beautiful memories as a child. Of course, it was also that trip that my brother ripped an earring out of my ear, straight down the lobe. [&:]

(and yes, that was before the days of mandatory car seats, seat belts and safety laws......)

6 months after the birth of my oldest nephew when he was laying on my bed as i was watching him.... i remember being overwhelmed with this 'feeling'.... i remember calling a close friend and freaking out over this 'feeling' i had which i could not figure out.... Finally i realized i loved him!!!!! and he loved me!!!!! Which meant one of those core beliefs that i had been taught all my life was not true. i was in fact capable of not only loving but also of being loved.
Being there when my niece was born and being in awe of such a miracle....... Getting to cut the cord.
Being there when my dad died and as he was moaning in pain and begging to be released, i remember closing my eyes asking God to forgive him for what he had done to me and to please allow him into 'heaven'.
June 24, 2007 when i made a decision that no man would ever treat me in an inappropriate way and be allowed to walk away...........
August 28, 2008 when i was sitting in the back of the ambulance and He told me He loved me.
Everyday since then because we rarely go half of a day without telling each other that we love each other.
Last week, when i got some devastating news from the doctor and he walked home from work, hugged me, and asked me if i wanted Him to take the rest of the day off work.
This past weekend, when we were watching the movie Up and there was this part that reached in and punched my heart............and the way He hugged me so tight and just held me while i sobbed.

I was 9 and my mom got us kids tickets to see the Osmonds. Oh yes, I loved Donny Osmond. [:(]

I had on my purple hat, purple pants and purple fur coat! From the screaming kids, baby brother got trampled on, my other brother got front row seat! And someone tore my purple coat. A fond memory.

I wrote Donny a letter but he never wrote me back![:(]

My grandma, reading books to me when I was little until she got hoarse.  I kindly would go and get her a glass of water.....so she could keep reading.  We read Go Dog Go, Green Eggs & Ham, Cat in the Hat, Cat in the Hat Comes Back, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, Sam and the Firefly, Are You My Mother, Robert the Rose Horse, The Big Red Ball......so many.

I read One Fish, Two Fish... to my own granddaughter last Christmas, which was a touching moment....and I stress "moment", because she wiggled off my lap before I even got to the "My Hat Is Old, My Teeth Are Gold" lady.

Going to downtown Chicago with my grandma when I was six to visit my grandpa. We went for a walk I he showed me Sears Tower still being built.

Spending Labor Day weekend with my father. No one knew he'd be dead a week later.

Meeting the love of my life when I was 20. No one has ever loved me as much as she did, nor have I ever loved anyone more.

Being on stage in front of 5000+ for a Pantera concert.

Reading."its fun to be a Dinosour to my 9 month old son. The baby book had babies dressed up in dinosaur costumes. I did it with all the funny voices and EVerything. Reading "WHere the wild Things are" and my um learning to say,"by Maurice Sendak" in his toddler voice. My toddler pointing every time he saw him on the jazz channel and saying,"Tony Bennet".

my first real kiss...

and not knowing *afterwords*..if i should spit or swallow
spit. but turn away from him first.

lol holly.. i have read... and noted... the fact of how you give that same kinda advice before... if i recall corectly.. something about holding it in your mouth and then letting it flow back out.. and that most men wont notice...hehe

Anyways.. i was actually refering ....honestly... about my first tongue kiss.. wasn't any time.. in the moment.. to think about spitting or swallowing... but.. in that following moment after he tuned to walk away..and i turned to walk up the walk to my home... in THAT moment.. i just didnt know what to do... swallow.. turn and spit.. or go inside and brush my teeth...lol

warm and fuzzy..and glowing.. i swallowed..

hehe... lesson well learnt..by the way.

When I was little, my Father worked 2 jobs & went to school to obtain his Bachelor & then his Master degree in Metallurgy.  But he would take time out to take me to minor league baseball games, the double headers on Sundays.  I think it was a quarter to sit in the bleachers for both games & I was allowed one treat.  I always got a Sugar Daddy because I could make it last through both games.  I don't remember the games and I don't think I was really all that into baseball.  It was just that was how I got my Father all to myself for all those hours.

There were other things we did together too.  Sometimes he would take me to the lab at the University of Washington to hang out with him for the day.  He taught me how to eat watermelon on the little balcony on the top floor of that old brick building & spit the seeds down & try to hit passersby walking under it & duck back really quickly so that they wouldn't catch me.  Sometimes he would take me fishing even if it was a day he was going out to hang out with his guy friends.  But a lot of the time it would just be him & me out on Puget Sound trying to catch dinner, but mostly just hanging out.

Linnea,
Thank you for sharing this.  It just... I don't know... kind left a lump in my throat...

May all your memories be so fond,
sunny jo

Sunshine, I have so many wonderful memories of my Father.  He was silly & brilliant & intense & he loved me unconditionally from the day he met me til the day he died.  Not many get to have that in their lives.  I thank God that I did.  [:)]

6 years old.
Sitting up waiting for the Easter Bunny with my old best friend. We sat up all night long waiting and sitting on my little tea table and chairs giggling and whispering all night long. When the sun came up we were sad and went to bed. When we woke up.... Bunny left us gifts!

Losing my virginity on the beach. I said,"what are you doing?" He said,'I'm making love to you."  It sounded so purdy, I said,"Ok".( I had only know him for 2 days)
