chamberqueen -> RE: All in a name (6/11/2009 6:00:24 AM)

I had lived in Europe for three years and they call a bedroom a chamber, so chamberqueen was Queen of the Bedroom.

oceanwinds -> RE: All in a name (6/11/2009 6:03:45 AM)

oceanwind or as i still spell it oceanwynds is about my personality. i am drawn to both the ocean and the wind. I had this s/n prior to meeting Sir Friend and he at times will call me it or oceana.

pixidustpet -> RE: All in a name (6/11/2009 8:51:49 AM)

LyraLaLaurie -> RE: All in a name (6/11/2009 2:21:10 PM)

I choose my name because of the lyrical connotations of Lyra and the sadistic connotations of LaLaurie. Sounds sweet...I just love names that go well together :)

Fitznicely -> RE: All in a name (6/11/2009 2:27:30 PM)

Bringing the tone wayyy down, it's the nickname I gave my dick. Cos it does.

Darkmoonkat - she likes the dark, she identifies with the moon as her chosen goddess and she could sleep 20 hours a day, hence "kat" [:)]

addBySubTraction -> RE: All in a name (6/11/2009 3:36:10 PM)

It's a shortened version of the phrase "addition by subtraction" which means to gain by simplifying, aka "less is more."  The capitalization breaks "subtraction" into two words, "sub" and "traction."   Since one of the definitions of traction is "attraction," the name says my Mistress will find Her life enhanced by attracting this particular sub, and simplified by no longer having to search.  It's a stretch, I know!  Any Dommes out there who are English teachers?

Interesting that another definition of "traction" is the medical one: "the deliberate and prolonged pulling of a muscle, organ, or the like, as by weights..."     That's a stretch, too!

kneelingrebel17 -> RE: All in a name (6/11/2009 6:02:05 PM)

I chose my name when I was in college, and have been using it ever since. I think it's an insight into my character, and should give a Dom a heads-up about my personality. People have frequently asked me how I could be both kneeling and a rebel, (and therefore be a sub) and really, if they can't understand that, I know they can't understand me. So it also works pretty well as a filter both for me and for them- because if the Dom doesn't want a sub like me, they can just avoid me.

kinkykreative -> RE: All in a name (6/11/2009 10:43:43 PM)

i chose my name beacuse i'm kinky (go figure) and kreative at the same time (i work in the arts).  kind of a double entendre i guess.  actually have my cock tucked under near my ass while writing per Miss Lavinia's request, feeling more inspired actually because of that.  Mistress also said i'm a fucking douche bag and i whole heartedly agree. thanks all :)

LadyPact -> RE: All in a name (6/12/2009 12:04:25 AM)

My name was given to Me by folks in the community here.  I would much rather speak of the name I gave clip.

From the time I first met clip, it was with the understanding that he would only be here for school for a limited time.  I had no expectations for keeping him as My sub.  It was just a temporary situation.  Something the two of us could explore and enjoy the beauty of before it would fade.  A wonderful thing that neither of us expected would last.  Much like flowers that would blossom in the garden, or be clipped to be brought in and enjoyed.  Granted, a cut flower has a finite end, but for a time, it's beauty can be captured and become a part of the house.  This was the way I saw My potential experience with clip, and named him such.  I knew that it was better to have him with Me, even if just for a while.  To capture the beauty that I saw in his submission, even though I believed his time with Me wouldn't last.  I was wrong about that last part, but his name stands.  In My mind, he will always be the boy I named during a summer evening two years ago.

childoftheshadow -> RE: All in a name (6/12/2009 1:40:00 AM)

Mine is so not interesting, but I'll tell ya anyway. Childoftheshadow comes from something I wrote years and years ago . . .

I was born to be a child of the shadows
Sunlight is not for me
The moon and stars are kinder
But darkness is my haven . . . .

It goes on, but I wont bore anyone with the rest of it.

frz411 -> RE: All in a name (6/12/2009 8:47:36 AM)

My name is not indicative with anything in the lifestyle, i think i need a good submissive name to represent my obedient submissive nature

leadership527 -> RE: All in a name (6/12/2009 9:51:28 AM)

gee, for the record, I wasn't bored.

MistressLavinia -> RE: All in a name (6/12/2009 10:57:09 AM)

Firstly, Id like to say, I was not bored, im blown away.  Coming back here to see the unbelievable response, and then the stories behind the names.  And even, one who doesn't have a name given to him yet but searches. This thread blew me away.  There's so many hot, deep, sensuous, erotic, and sincere names that its no wonder the forums here blow anything away Ive ever seen.  Even though im quite the new one here,  I write my sometimes crass journals and get the most outrageously wonderful responses.  This thread doesnt compare.  Im enamored by all your responses, and all your names.  Thank you for the response.  Now im off to think up some more questions I have for the forum.[8|][sm=mistress.gif]

AlexandraLynch -> RE: All in a name (6/12/2009 11:58:12 AM)

Alexandra Lynch is my general internet identity. Neither name is actually on my driver's license. But it sounds like a name, and I like it. I have actually contemplated legally changing my first name to Alexandra.

joey0172 -> RE: All in a name (6/12/2009 2:50:16 PM)

my user name is my name and have no idea where the 0172 came from.

my nicknames from Mistress are pet, and scrat. She loves calling me scrat because She says the first time i met Her i was so nervous that i reminded Her of the character from ice age.

MistressLavinia -> RE: All in a name (6/26/2009 5:13:30 PM)

Well no wonder why Im so dominant.

Origin of the name Lavinia: Borne in Roman mythology by the daughter of King Latinus. She was the last wife of Aeneas and was considered to be the mother of the Roman people. The name is a feminine form of Latinus (from Latium, the area surrounding and including ancient Rome).

pyroaquatic -> RE: All in a name (6/26/2009 5:33:46 PM)

Pyroaquatic...

From the latin Pyro meaning fire, and Aqua meaning water. The unification of opposites or polar extremes. It is a self given name, and now it makes sense to me since I now reside in florida where the sun flares and the ocean waves.

I am also a Pisces (two fishes waring againts the other, one alive and one dead.)
Water brings and sustains the life, Fire destroys it.

When you bring the two together Steam is created... energized water. I am just that... steamy,  energetic, passionate.

I have always been enamoured with duality, even if it emerges spontainously or it is crafted by the human hand.

MidnightKat5000 -> RE: All in a name (6/26/2009 9:41:12 PM)

My name comes from a photo I found a long time ago; it's a pumpkin carving of a cat.  When I saved the file I named is "midnight cat".  I liked the sound of it and adopted is as my screen name and avatar; I have been using it ever since.

vasha -> RE: All in a name (6/27/2009 1:57:50 AM)

Vasha Zeli is the name my Owner gave to me... wich i use infrequently, but with enormous pride.  i hope to one day in the not distant future get it legally changed.

what it means... gawd i wish i remembered.  she picked it for very good and specific reason.  each word has a meaning in romanian. i may not remember it, but i charish it, and the honor of recieving. deeply.

CaringandReal -> RE: All in a name (7/3/2009 3:08:08 PM)

I had another profile. It was hounded by obesessives and stalkers who made my time on this website hell. I eventually got fed up with it and decided to carefully move (slowly, so nobody would notice) to a new profile in order to lose them. I took about 6-9 months to fully transition and even now I occasionally log in with it, just to keep the obessesives obsessed with it, and not searching for another profile from me. I chose a name that was descriptive, but also quite low-key and boring, nothing clever or "stand out of the crowd" about it, as I thought that would best keep the people I wanted to keep away from noticing me. That and no pic (stalkers tend to be superficial, they often don't think to look at profiles without pictures, as there's not much there to hang onto or obsess about) made it work like a charm. Hiding in plain view has worked superbly for me. Nothing else but the profile change was necessary. All the details are honestly represented, as they were on my old profile. The mail volume to this name is much lower but the quality of correspondent higher. I guess it takes a special person to see past a name designed to make one yawn. :p
