That is THE coolest name, but I didn't think tornado, I thought Xmen

HisBestGirl -> RE: All in a name (7/9/2009 1:26:10 AM)

We both like the whole 1950s vibe of 'she's my best gal'. When we first rekindled our relationship, he had a somewhat psychotic ex girlfriend (not BDSM related) who enjoyed playing mind games and other undignified acts of relationship sabotage. Basically, she liked to act as though she was still with him, still his girlfriend etc, by calling him, his friends, his mother etc. I felt rather worried by her presence and he used to assure me by telling me I was his 'best girl, the only girl, my best girl'.

So in a way, my handle is a bit of a passive-aggressive swipe at her. But he still does refer to me as his best girl, when I do something exceptionally well or to please him.

Ryana -> RE: All in a name (7/10/2009 8:39:07 PM)

I picked my name because is one I've had for awhile (though its actually supposed to be spelled Rianna the "i" key got stuck so i changed the spelling) Is a name i used to DJ under *shrugs* it sorta stuck lol

the question for those who want to share. How and why do you have that special name you have?

This is actually kind of an interesting thread, because a screenname really does have some meaning, if only for the moment when we chose it. Mine goes back to AOL, and I think I chose it back then because I though it lacked the puffed up pretension of so many others I had seen,  and  I thought the idea of a white guy who can't sing or dance naming himself sly stone was at least different and different was what I wanted to be.

Now, I just like the ring of it.

Shadowsongs -> RE: All in a name (7/10/2009 11:03:08 PM)

Intresting Topic...

Why did I choose my nic here to be Shadowsongs.. well.. mostly because it is sort of a pen name. describing how I write. Poetry or Journal entries and so on.. but it goes back abit further to my childhood..

When I was younger even before my teens my Friends called me Shadow.. mainly because I was sneaky.. and for a kid my size at the time I guess it was impressive.. I was always a Nightowl.. never slept much with a raging case of cronic insomnia.. so I would spend most of my nights out.. wandering *laughs* usually with a friend or two that had to sneak out.. some of the best and worst times of my life... as they seem even now in my memories clouded in darkness.. not all the forboding bleak darkness.. some just the calm of night... Tranquil even. It is looking back on these times and times not so distant that reminds me who I am and where I come from.. and the memories of my past be good or bad.. are the songs I keep inside me..
The Lyrics of life worth listening are the ones that move you. Be them Lyrics you have written or the Lyrics of Friends.. or those of which you have never met in person... be it passion, angst, love, or sorrow.

So to me.. I am Shadowsongs.. to Others I am Nobleshadow.. and to one specail person.. Tribble, but that is a different song altogether *smiles*

Mephistophilys -> RE: All in a name (7/12/2009 12:27:44 AM)

My username comes from the name of the demon in Faust. Mephistophilis grants the wishes of Doctor Faust for 24 years. Plus I have a temper and can be rather demonic at times. I'm also 24. ;)

But it's been a long time since I read it, so I might have my facts messed up. Also, I had to change the spelling because someone already had the conventional spelling of the name.

caelestis -> RE: All in a name (7/12/2009 1:15:26 AM)

Caelestis is latin for celestial and was used for the name of a character in a short story I once wrote.  I found in her the traits I would hope to have in myself as a submissive.  She was graceful, humble and all around pleasing.  The name just stuck in my mind and ta-da.

playfulotter -> RE: All in a name (7/12/2009 1:56:44 AM)

Not to burst your bubble or anything but a Sea Monkey was a just a catchy marketing ploy of a way to sell brine shrimp eggs that came to life in water....they are mostly just sold in aquarium shops as food for other fish. From my aquarium days I rememmber them being sold both alive and also dead in frozen blocks.....but many a child was bamboozled by their cute little pictures on the packages of those sold as pets....but You probably know all this and it is still a cute name.

BeaconofLight -> RE: All in a name (6/7/2010 5:22:23 PM)

My BeaconofLight screen name was actually given to Me by My submissive/babygirl, before W/we had officially become Domme/submissive. Was looking for an online name to use on BDSM/Ageplay forums and bing bang boom.. BeaconofLight was created.

Great question!!

lucylucy -> RE: All in a name (6/7/2010 6:30:03 PM)

As a redhead and a fan of Lucille Ball, I've been told many, many times, "'Splain that, Lucy!" I've used various forms of Lucy as psuedonyms for years. I like the ring of two lucies in a row: lucylucy. So much more fun than just one Lucy.

sweetsub1957 -> RE: All in a name (6/7/2010 7:56:05 PM)

~FastReply~
Wow. This thread is a year old already & come back to life. Well, now, a year later i'm called "baby" and "pet" by Daddy. i guess the baby is, well, because He feels like i'm His baby. Pet, well i'm not sure what's different about a pet, but He likes to call me that. The only name i've ever picked out for myself was my username online. Anything else was picked by my Dominant.

gungadin09 -> RE: All in a name (6/7/2010 8:12:44 PM)

My name comes from a poem by Rudyard Kipling. Gunga Din is a Indian waterboy who risks his life running water to the English soldiers on the front line, only to get beaten and insulted for his troubles. He perfoms his duty with meekness and a pure heart. In the end, he is shot and killed. The last line of the poem is the most famous:

...
though I've belted you and flayed you
by the living God that made you
you're a better man than i am, Gunga Din!

myotherself -> RE: All in a name (6/7/2010 11:17:50 PM)

I had a different name when I first 'discovered' bdsm about 8 years ago. But after a year or two I did some hard thinking to find a username that really suited me.

I like to think I have a life in two parts - there's the 'me' that does all the 'nilla family/work/friends stuff, and my other self who does the kink stuff.

Although most people now call me Myo [:D]

petmonkey -> RE: All in a name (6/8/2010 11:26:53 PM)

i'm overly fond of the Curious George stories. i identify with George as well as the designation of "pet"--more so than "sub" or "slave". People have called me "monkey" over the years on their own, and ZX4500 did so in particular, along with Monchichi, pun'kin, etcetera.
i was surprised the handle wasn't taken already when i joined this site, as it's so generic.

ladylikesdaddies -> RE: All in a name (6/9/2010 2:00:10 PM)

My Sir calls me gypsy girl, due to my heritage I assume... I must ask him if that's all it is!

daddysprop247 -> RE: All in a name (6/9/2010 2:10:20 PM)

it's just what i am. the "24/7" bit was added as insurance in case the plain title was already taken.

MsAlisedeSade -> RE: All in a name (6/9/2010 2:36:36 PM)

Alise is the same as Alice. I have noticed I have admired the fearlessness of this character since I was a child and I like to forge ahead thru the unknown with my eyes wide open.
deSade. For the Marquis deSade because I am sadistic, chauvinistic, libertine.

PeonForHer -> RE: All in a name (6/9/2010 3:40:07 PM)

I took 'Peon' because I figured there'd be too many others calling themselves 'slave-' something-or-other.  The choice had nothing consciously to do with the idea of being peed on.

Nobody who's met me says that it suits me and I freely admit it was a stupid choice of nick.  Can't be bothered to change it now, though.  At least it's short and easy to remember.

NymphetamineGirl -> RE: All in a name (6/9/2010 4:13:30 PM)

Nymphetamine girl is a reference, nay, a blatant plagarization, of Cradle of Filth's amazing song of the same name.  Only one person on CM has ever recognized it.  The song holds special meaning for me.  It's a duet, she sings a verse,  then he does, it is the story of an epic love and an equally epic heartbreak.  For those wildly unoccupied enough to actually read the lyrics, here they are.

<lady sings>
Led to the river
Midsummer, I waved
A "V" of black swans
On with hope to the grave
And though Red September
With skies fire-paved
I begged you appear
Like a thorn for the holy ones

<man sings>
Cold was my soul
Untold was the pain
I faced when you left me
A rose in the rain....
So I swore to the razor
That never, enchained
Would your dark nails of faith
Be pushed through my veins again

<lady sings>
Bared on your tomb
I'm a prayer for your loneliness
And would you ever soon
Come above onto me?
For once upon a time
On the binds of your loneliness
I could always find the slot for your sacred key

<man sings>
Six feet deep is the incision
In my heart, that barless prison
Discoulours all with tunnel vision
Sunsetter...
Nymphetamine
Sick and weak from my condition
This lust, this vampyric addiction
To Her alone in full submission
None better...
My Nymphetamine girl.

Wicked with your charm
I'm circled like prey
Back in the forest
Were whispers persuade
More sugar trails
More white lady laid
Than pillars of salt...
(keeping Sodom at at bay)

<lady sings>
Fold to my arms
Hold their mesmeric sway
And dance out to the moon
As we did in those golden days

<man sings>
Christening stars
I remember the way
We were needle and spoon
Mislaid in the burning hay

....and the rest repeats which is potent when listening but I'm feeling paranoid about taking up too much space now.

I love Cradle of Filth. I recognized it straight away. I prefer the Nymphetamine Fix version. Neat name! :)
