Seriously, I do not understand the security concern, is there a worry that one will abscond with your breast? or is it that nobody will want to steal a baby in broad daylight unless they know that it was fed recently? are is it more that you are afraid of the baby letting go too early and all of the sudden, there's milk on your face ( a fun variation that saves on eggs)

Many do not understand the security concern unless they have already been a victim. A woman who has suffered a violent assault is one of the most aware people walking down the street...if indeed she chooses to walk down the street alone after that.

A person who's never had to feel that kind of fear and helplessness has no knowledge of what's lurking around the next corner.

Really, women should not give birth at all, let alone stay at home with their brood. How criminal of them to release a helpless creature into the world! How selfish we are. Loki is right: we should become permanent incubators, to better protect the fruits of our loins.

Let them stay in the womb, so they don't get a wound. Makes much more sense.

[sm=confused.gif] I'm 'fused. Are we going to talk about safety issues now? That sounds like a good topic for another thread........<hint, hint nudge nudge>

So it is paranoia then, OK I can understand that, it took years of therapy and more work than I care to mention here to get to the point where I was comfortable alone anywhere after the shit I dealt with earlier in my life

As far as concerns about being stolen from or something like that, there are precautions that can be taken, namely, keep your eye on your purse, just like when you do anything else

One would think that maternal instinct kicks in during feeding and that would deliver its own sense of paranoia with it, but I am the wrong gender to know

I've been hitting on that topic for awhile now.

And the mortgage companies will have to take the fact that we've concieved as a viable reason for nonpayment and cannot foreclose. They must instead...excuse all payments until said short person, is off to college.

If you are incapable of having a rational discussion, it may be better not to say anything than to persistently try to bait me with sarcasm. It's not working, in case you haven't noticed. I know you are a grown woman and capable of grasping what I am saying without resorting to sarcastic retorts.

People aren't against mom feeding the baby, just the way she does it. Why not express the milk into a bottle before you leave home if you know you'll be out when baby's hungry?

(Fast reply before reading the whole thread)

I for one had kidlets that were more than just simply unhappy with a bottle. Plus, why express, tote along and reheat, if the fresh stuff is readily available at any time.

It is a sad state of things if people are upset about seeing a breast while it is used for what it is intended.

Paranoia is acceptable but sarcasm is not?

I admitted this on the second page of this thread.

Yes, but one question: If you could choose when to be 'attacked'.....not 'if' you will be, but when (just come along with me for a moment). Someone says to you "you're going to be attacked and forced to defend yourself and your loved ones"......would you rather that moment come when you are nursing, highly vulnerable and away from potential support? Or would you prefer to have all limbs available to fight, flee, or whatever?

No one thinks like this until it's too late. Yes, it is a bit paranoid. But the issue in today's world isn't if you're paranoid, it's if you're paranoid ENOUGH. Bad shit happens daily and it gets worse with the same frequency. For some people it's not 'if' they will have something bad happen, but WHEN.

And speaking strictly for me and mine....I'd rather a significant other of mine not be in the most vulnerable position she or my UM could be in if and when something like that happens.
