You are certainly entitled to your opinion, as i am entitled to mine.

commiseration is not a positive thing...    for either the 'sympathizer' or the 'sympathizee'

And i agree.. this has been enough of a derailment of this thread.

Take care,

Over the last 6-7 years, we've stopped having anything to talk about and just got stuck into a rut.

Is the issue that you have nothing to talk about or have you both simply stopped making an effort?

i told him that she is the reason for making him feel alive again

Is it her or is it the adventure/excitement of something new and challenging?

she is the innocent party in this situation and it would not be fair to her at all.

What about being fair on yourself?

My question is "am i a complete and utter idiot for letting it get this far or what should i do?"

No. You've just made a couple of unwise decisions. It happens.

please help me

I would ask myself 3 questions:

a) Is a man who will disregard your feelings on the back of an adventure actually worth it and a man you want in your life?

b) If yes - are you prepared to follow his lead?

c) If yes - is he prepared to give the other one up and focus on you?

It's not too late to save your marriage. You should understand what is acceptable to you and what is acceptable to him. Where you can't reach an agreement that suits you both then it's time to let go.
