Libertaire -> On Male/Female Ratios (6/16/2009 4:22:10 PM)

I don't really know if this is relevant to this forum, however I'm at a loss where to put this other than in the 'general' folder.

Every sex/fetish site that I have come across has been dominated by men. This has led quite naturally to many of them charging men for membership whilst letting women have full membership for 'free'. This site is different in that it is 'free' for all in terms of functionality.

Anyway, I was wondering why it is that men seem to dominate these kinds of sites in terms of membership. Is it because men are more 'liberated' and feel free to join such sites? Do women find it easier to find men who float their boat in the 'real' world? Really, I'm lost as to the reason for this and I'm wondering what theories and thoughts any of you may have on this.

OsideGirl -> RE: On Male/Female Ratios (6/16/2009 4:25:07 PM)

Because men outnumber women in the fetish communities. I hate to burst your balloon, but at BDSM, Fetish, D/s events you would find the ratio much the same. I belive the number put out is that men outnumber women 10:1.

Musicmystery -> RE: On Male/Female Ratios (6/16/2009 4:27:47 PM)

It's because many, many men think with their nuts and convince themselves that yes, hot sexy girls are ready now to jump in the car and fall naked at their feet.

That's why it's called "nuts," but their it is. Oh, and they will pay for it, even when they get nothing.

Libertaire -> RE: On Male/Female Ratios (6/16/2009 4:28:06 PM)

Yes, I understand that men outnumber women in these communities, but why is that?

So women are less confident (or less delusional) than men in terms of being able to seduce?

LOL

Is that all it takes?

Lockit -> RE: On Male/Female Ratios (6/16/2009 4:34:31 PM)

Women are not less confident than men.  It is simply that men get horny and are willing to pay where a woman can pretty much go anywhere and find a willing man.  I also find that men will make a woman an object more often than a woman will and think that has something to do with some of this.

Because women for centuries have been raised to believe sex was evil. Because for centuries we've been raised to behave "like a lady". Because we've been raised for centuries to be pure. Because when women have a 1,000 partners they're sluts but when guys have a 1,000 partners the're studs. Because women have only recently figured out that sex is healthy.

Well, I can go 'pretty much anywhere' and find a 'willing' woman, but that's only fine if all you are looking for is a 'willing' person. If you're looking for more than simply being 'willing' with particular attributes, kinks and  views it becomes more difficult.

Are women then generally more accepting of a 'willing' man, rather than specific attributes?

So women are generally less liberated than men then.

Lockit -> RE: On Male/Female Ratios (6/16/2009 4:51:40 PM)

Good lord... do you twist everything?  Because a woman can doesn't mean she does. It just means men are ready and willing and very hopeful to get some.  We don't need to buy memberships to sex type sites as much as men seem to feel they need to.  In person women may reject them or they may only want some online kicks with no attachments.  There may be a lot to this... but a lot of it is simply horny men not getting laid. But when I think of all the married men playing online.. I have to think that some of the numbers are up because of that.

As for women not as sexually liberated... after watching many of my um's growing up... and seeing what these young women were doing... no... I think they have been liberated! lol

Good looking people of both sex can get laid pretty much whenever they want to.

In some cases yes. But, even at our most liberated, it's still hard to undo a lifetime of enviromental red tapes. Even men can perpetuate the situation. The old saying, "There's the kind you fuck and then there's the kind you marry."

DesFIP -> RE: On Male/Female Ratios (6/16/2009 4:55:57 PM)

Women don't need to pay for it, women can get men lining up to have sex with them. Women are more choosy than men, so we are more willing to wait. But more men want to have sex no matter if they like the woman or not.

Libertaire -> RE: On Male/Female Ratios (6/16/2009 5:00:34 PM)

I'm not twisting anything. The idea that women were less liberated, based upon traditional cultural views of the role of a woman in society is what your message appeared to entail to me.

Because a woman can doesn't mean she does.

Because she is more concerned with being viewed as 'pure' and 'proper'?

I understand that these kind of discussions fall into generalisation as we are discussing men and women as overall groups, however I see no way of avoiding this.

Surely then if they are more choosy they would utilise websites where their choices are more accurately defined and they are able to search in a particular manner?

RumpusParable -> RE: On Male/Female Ratios (6/16/2009 5:02:57 PM)

In my personal experience:  We females just don't need to go to special places as much to find what we want.  Finding a male or female to let me spank them is pretty darn easy.  Finding someone to let me cut them up is harder, but still not *that* hard.

Many men, though certainly not all, have a madonna/whore complex... they think that everyday girl-next-door girls must not being into BDSM and that they *have* to go somewhere special or find this mystical rare woman who will do these things (when they know several and just broke up with one they assumed was too vanilla).  Look around here and you'll see it sometimes more than once a day.  They just can't ask their wife, girlfriend, buddy, hot coworker, etc to do these things, they're assumed to not be "that" sort of girl.

There is also the do-me factor (or let me do-you factor) of many men in the scene.  They're looking for a fetish object, so they're going "shopping" at what they think is the fetish object store (sites like this, clubs, etc).  Not interested in the personhood of the female, they are hunting purely kink fulfillment.  This is there sometimes but seemingly much, much rarer in females so not as many come "shopping".

Then you've social biased and gender role teachings over-all -including some females being afraid to look/come into such a place despite their interest due to the predator fear in it.

And, the male types described above go a ways at keeping the female numbers down, too... online it's not so bad because you can block and delete messages somewhat from the creeps, but creeps in real life are harder to get rid of.

CatdeMedici -> RE: On Male/Female Ratios (6/16/2009 5:03:36 PM)

Its because when most men use their "head" they will sell their souls for an orgasm.
