LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: Why are Big women called 'curvy'... (6/17/2009 9:38:47 PM)

Gawd I love threads like this!!  How fortunate I am that I chanced to get online tonight of all nights.  I so enjoy at my mature age being told how immature I am by someone young enough to be my granddaughter.  I remember that age when I knew everything.  *sigh*  It has been said that the wisest people are those who know how little they know.

This thread is not meant for a debate. I didn't ask people what i should do instead of describing myself, etc... I simply asked why are big women called curvy when, more times than none, that is not the case.

Oh sorry I totally missed the part that explained that a thread on a forum is not open to debate.  I will go and read the TOS once more,

In answer to your actual question - my belief is that women are called curvy because they are - all women by virtue of having a waist and hips and breasts and ass [:)]

edited for typos

I met a woman once that wasnt curvy
it scared me

It's not a hard concept. If you don't agree with something then you ignore it. This thread is not meant for a debate. I didn't ask people what i should do instead of describing myself, etc... I simply asked why are big women called curvy when, more times than none, that is not the case. If you don't have an answer to that (Which most of you derailers did not) then you shut up and leave it alone. Don't complain, derail, tell me what "I'm" doing wrong, expose your own insecurities by getting mad, etc.. You leave it alone.

alright cupcake, you are not supreme here on a public forum.  you put a thread up on a certain topic, anyone can reply with anything they want to within TOS.  if you don't like it then don't post threads.  asking people to ignore something they don't agree with on a forum is like asking me to stop eating spicy pork rinds....aint gonna happen babe.

as for your question:  women use the word curvy to explain themselves because they are just that...curvy.  hell i've got a curve in my jawline, my earlobe, my lips, my fingernails, ther aren't many parts of me that don't have some kind of curve to them...hell my hair even has curves girl.

give it a rest...call yourself what you want and wear it.  stop worrying about everyone else and do your own thing.

Not to muddy the waters, but this guy is kinda curvy.

I usually say that I'm built like a swimmer. Unfortunately, to borrow a line from a friend, the swimmer happens to be Shamu the killer whale.

Racquelle -> RE: Why are Big women called 'curvy'... (6/17/2009 9:55:18 PM)

The word curvy is used because words like big, fat, pig, hippo, elephant and slob have an unkind ring to them. Why do we say Gay instead of Fag or Disabled instead of Gimp?  Possibly because some of us don't actually think it's bad to be Gay, Disabled or Curvy.  Acceptance is as acceptance does.  I, myself, living an easily criticized and much maligned lifestyle, prefer to think of other people with the kindness and openness I'd like in return.

deadlylover -> RE: Why are Big women called 'curvy'... (6/17/2009 9:56:22 PM)

Well, either way, using gay or fag is just silly in my eyes. Then again, what those words actually mean always come to mind when someone says them.

Ummm... I'm a "big" girl, but pretty sure at least a couple of people here who know me IRL can attest to the fact that I do, in fact, have curves in the proper places. [8D]

Oh, and attempting to control how others post in a thread is about the best way to guarantee a hijack.
