Status: offline 		I have a weakness for cookbooks. I will buy one for just one recipe in it.
My favorites are the Barefoot Contessa series. I have yet to find a recipe in them that I haven't liked.

Status: offline 		I love most cookbooks, but my favorite would be my Disney cookbook. Not only do I like most of the recipes, it also brings back some really good memories.

Status: offline 		i have a few old church cookbooks, with  lovely names, such as burnt offerings, that i adore.  i just remember who cooked the best for homecomings when i was a kid, and use their recipes.

Status: offline 		Alice Waters "The Art of Simple Food" is a new one I picked up and have enjoyed.

My copies of "The Enchanted Broccoli Forest" and "Moosewood Cookbook" by Mollie Katzen are stained and marked up from much use.

I enjoy pretty much anything by Jamie Oliver.  His cookbooks are visually delicious and his website...  http://www.jamieoliver.com/   is wonderful.

Also, you can't go wrong with Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking". 

"The Cheese Plate" and "Cheese: A Connoisseur's Guide to the World's Best" both by Max McCalman, are just plain food porn for this cheese lover.  I also like "The Cheese Primer" by Steven Jenkins because, while he offers a few recipes, he takes the time to explain the flavors and what will work with the cheese.

I LOVE cookbooks!!

Status: offline 		Wow what a great subject....Now i get most of my recipes online but ....I used to buy so many cookbooks..but if you asked me ones I used the most over the years..I would say "The Joy of Cooking" as you can reference things like how to make broth, different sauces etc and just about everything or just how to cook meat to the right degree...but a few other favorites I bought along the way I have used many times are: that whole series of "365 ways to cook" which included different books for 365 ways to cook: Hamburger, chicken, Chinese and Mexican"....other favorites are a few Amish cookbooks..love the food they cooked....I have a few great chili cookbooks too...I have some books i bought just for the photos in them....one favorite is called "Glorious American Food"...full of beautiful photos of great food....mmmmmmmmmm

PS..after reading another posting above I love the Barefoot Contessa's recipes too but get them from online and have bought some of her sauces too from a site online...I also love Giada Delaurentis' recipes too...(sp?)

Status: offline 		You're welcome, that was one of my favorite episodes.  I love his "Les Halles Cookbook" too.  His recipe for roast chicken has become a classic for me.

Status: offline 		I found a very cool cookbook a Yard Sale called  Four Ingredient Cookbook. Self explanatory. lol.
What's cool about it is it has simple tasty recipes and if you like to cook like me, you can use it as a starter recipe and build on it. I have loved re creating many of the dishes.

Gordon Ramsey's Healthy Appetite's is up there on my list. And the best Chicken Marsala recipe I have comes from The Mafia Cookbook. The best Italian Resturants, don't hold a candle to this one.

Status: offline 		Lots of people use Joy for their standard, I prefer Fannie Farmer.
Marcella Hazan for Italian food.
Jennie Grossinger cookbook for the things my grandmother used to make, plus her chocolate chip recipe yields the best choc chip cookie ever.
Maida Heatter for other cookies and biscotti.

But I keep a notebook in the kitchen and I write in it the recipes I use the most so I don't have to hunt through the cookbook shelf for the right one. The banana bread recipe given to me by an Ecuadorian cook is in there, plus many other favorites. I find that my daughter will bake more since she can just look at the notebook for easy cheesecake bars or blueberry muffins.

Status: offline 		I love Thai, Chinese and Japanese recipes.

My fave at the moment is the Wagamama cookbook. There's more than a few recipes in there I've been cooking for years that I never knew were available at restaurants!

Actually, one experience was quite disappointing while something of an ego boost...restaurant cooked teppanyaki tastes identical to the stir-fries I make at home regularly...
