Fan of MJ or not - the man made incredible music - and was the most fantastic entertainer for 40 years...and i would like to see any of you grow up to be a "normal and balanced" person if you had lost your freedom as a 8-10 year old kid, and everybody was pulling you to concerts - rehersals etc...the only place he felt safe was on stage and around kids with the same kind of heart he had. The ending of the ceremony - with a spotlight shining on a microphone on and empty stage was just perfect.

Also - not just making money for Sony - He was the artist that through the years has given most to various charities.

Some of the comments here has made me sick inside...show some respect, please...3 children lost their dad - and i can not even begin to think how it will be for them when the fight start to keep them and control the estate. Not only have they lost their beloved dad - they have the entire world digging into their emotions...

I think they should still do his concert tour....kinda like a Weekend At Bernie's thing. Just put him up onstage and move his chair with some rope.
He's pretty much all wax anyway. Doubt there will be any decompostition for at least five years.

Al Sharpton's an idiot. [8|]  Can't stand that publicity seeking 50's doo wearing motherfucker. I'm sure he tossed a coin to decide whether or not he should attend until it landed in his favor.

I hate to disagree, but I'm thinkin' the decision was a lot easier than that for Sharpton. The decision tree probably looked something like this -

1. Attend Michael Jackson's memorial service - yes or no?

a) - Will there be a microphone there? If no, go to "3". If yes, go to "b".
b.) - will there be a television camera there? If no, got to "3". If yes, go to "2".

2. Attend memorial service
3. Stay home surfing porn on the internet.
