LinnaeaBorealis -> How does one neutralize an ancient curse? (6/27/2009 8:04:28 AM)

I fell again this week.  My sister falls & breaks bones.  My daughter falls.  My sister's daughter falls.  Her grandchildren fall & break bones.  I've broken 20-plus bones now, some more than once.  I'm tired of this.  I've decided that it's got to be an ancient curse on our family.

So how does one go about neutralizing ancient curses?  And I hope it doesn't involve eye of newt, since I'm not entirely sure where to find a newt nor how to convince one to give me its eye.

By ceasing to believe in it.

And Gingrich's eye won't help.

I am thinking thishas something to do with balance and the inner ear. TAlk to a professional maybe classes that improve your balance and those proprioceptors. I have heard that working with an exercise ball will help in this. With your issues start slow with just trying to sit and balance on the ball.

Well, I don't honestly believe in curses so my best advice is to wrap everyone in bubble wrap.

[&o]   I just accept that I fall and go "boom'. Maybe buy stock in the local dairies and drink a lot of milk?

(though my feet are agreeing with you right now about enough is enough, they'd like it if I could stop breaking them for at least a little bit.....)

I never did believe in it.  This is just my latest theory about why this keeps happening.  It truly can't be that we are the clumsiest family on the planet, right??

we all fall (some more than others) but most of us do not have fractures because of it.  are you sure is is not an issue of bone density or an issue like that?

When I went to my niece's wedding & she told me she wanted me to get up there & read something & that there were steps, she suggested wrapping me in bubble wrap & having EMS standing by.

Unfortunately, I've talked to numerous professionals regarding this problem & there doesn't seem to be anything anatomically wrong with me.  Besides, my having an inner ear issue wouldn't cause the rest of them to fall over, would it??

Yes, it can; I've seen such run in families, Linea.

If it is a genetic defect then yes it could be a family issue.

Not all the fractures have been from falls.  I broke 8 bones at once when I was run over by a car while riding my motorcycle.

Cool.  Then I'm going with my original idea after the latest fall:  I'm resigning from my family.

Missokyst -> RE: How does one neutralize an ancient curse? (6/27/2009 8:24:12 AM)

The problem is not in the fall, it is in the landing.  People tend to stiffen up as they feel themselves go down and that creates more stress on the body.  I have taken spills of my motorcycle, feeling myself skidding over the asphalt and landing under trucks, and got up to walk away.  You probably should attempt something like yoga or even some sort of martial arts class to get your body used to relaxing as it goes down.
As for being clumsy or prone to this as a family, yes that is more than possible.  We teach our children to walk, they watch how we walk, our stride, and our habits.  You may have been cursed by a family that can't slow down.

I've run across several ancient curses and simply block and ignore them.

This is nature's way of telling you not to breed.  Spread the word to your offspring.

Good point about the LANDING, it is the sudden stop after a fall, rather than the fall itself.  When I was young, I was terrified that I would hurt myself and never be allowed to do things again, so I learned Injury Avoidance. I took a flying fall off a galloping horse, rolled and landed on my feet!  Could I do that now?  Highly unlikely! [:D]

Several members of my family are prone to falling, and they are SHORT!  Like, shorter than SAGE!  They could trip on the pattern in the carpet.  Me, my mom, and my grandmother have bad sinus trouble and the middle ear thing.  The runty ones are my grandmother's neices, so who knows.  Y'all could just have that moment of twitch that sets you off balance.

Or it could be a curse.  [sm=abducted.gif]
