Here's wishing everyone a happy Canada Day wherever you are. I'll be sure to enjoy a beer for ya.

And in case anyone is curious, here's what Canada Day is officially about:

Canada Day (French: Fête du Canada), formerly Dominion Day (French: Le Jour de la Confédération), is Canada's national day, a federal statutory holiday, celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867 enactment of the British North America Act of 1867, which united Canada as a single country of four provinces. Canada Day observances take place throughout Canada as well as internationally.

Commemoration Frequently referred to as "Canada Day" particularly in the popular press,[1][2] the occasion marks the joining of the British colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Province of Canada into a federation of four provinces (the Province of Canada being divided, in the process, into Ontario and Quebec) on July 1, 1867. However, though Canada is regarded as having become a dominion in its own right on that date,[3] the British Parliament at first kept limited rights of political control over the new country, which were shed by stages over the years until the last vestiges were ended in 1982, when the Constitution Act patriated the Canadian constitution. Canada Day thus differs from Independence Day celebrations in some other countries in that it does not commemorate a militant assertion of political self-determination, but rather recognizes one of the major milestones of the long and peaceful political process which formed the modern nation of Canada.

(Yep, this is one of the biggie holidays here, I can hear the neighbours already...)

Canada is my second favorite country in the world and a place I always enjoy visiting so I am happy to wish all my Canadian friends a happy Canada Day. The great thing about living along the border is that people on both sides get two celebrations close together. For Canada Day a lot of Americans go across the border and party down (and you don’t even have to cross the border if you just want to watch the fireworks). Three days later it’s the Canadians who come to our side to help us celebrate Independence Day.

Lucy, the trip was fun but long. We walked about 9 miles or so all around the city and it rained the entire time. My shoes still aren't dry!

Eh, it's been really quiet around here in my neighbourhood, except for when the fire trucks came by once. But considering that I usually hear them 5-8 times a day and only once today, it must be quiet for them too.

Maybe things will pick up later though...I know I plan on picking up a Vex and enjoying a cold one!

Heh Ive often walked barefoot around downtown... I dont mind dirty feet but witht he garbage strike, it just aint safe lately.barefoot in the rain is so much fun:)

Canadian Whole WHEAT PASTA

1 pkg..WHOLE WHEAT spaghetti noodles
8-12 garlic cloves..crushed then sautaed in olive oil
Olive oil
1/4 c( or less) maple syrup

COOK your pasta..until tender..drain
Add sautaed cloves and toss..
Add olive oil to coat but not drench
Add syrup Toss..again..

Serve with crusty rolls and green salad..
