true, but i dont think i am so superior that i can tell who has a D/s relationship.. no.. wait.. a successful D/s relationship.. by a few typed words on a message board.

You can tell a great deal of what people claim, based on their words.  I can tell in a moment who is, for example, actually a lawyer, or a doctor, or an accountant, and who is just claiming to be.  It's pretty easy really.  There are those who seem to know what they're talking about, and those that don't.

And fakers of all persuasions are generally easy to pick out by those with actual knowledge and experience.

OK, you had me for a nonce, I thought you were an erstwhile actor on 'Boston Legal', but now you claim to be the 'Amazing Kreskin'.

Ok, who am I?  What do I do?

As one example, it is fairly easy to see, from post pattern alone, who enjoys arguing and prioritizes "being right," and who is trying to communicate and build relationships with others.

Indeed, after all, one who begins a post with "what, so you think you're god?" seems very uninterested in any kind of relationship building.

My guess?  Based on your posts, you're a DJ on a '60s radio station *nods*

Feeding a troll?  Yes, but I have an excuse.  I'm stuck on something, so I'm letting it percolate.  I just find people who claim everyone is equal, and yet act ubersuperior to be hilarious.  Literally everyone I've ever met who was top-100 in the world at something has acted polite and humble.  "I know everything"-ism is definitely the province of people who need others to seem small so they can feel big.

Damn it.  Am I missing a CollarMe fact in addition to a TV fact?  I have to get my knowledge priorities straight.  Shit.

Um, a couple of points:

1. If making posts directly and reasonably answering the question posed in the original post of a thread in a straightforward manner is "trolling," well, this forum has an awfully weird definition of trolling.

2. Again, "everyone is equal" doesn't mean "everyone is the same." It in no way contradicts the former statement to state that one thinks people who act melodramatic about D/s are more likely to be less experienced in D/s than people who act more down-to-earth about it, which is the only thing I can see that my owner has posted that comes remotely close to acting "ubersuperior." For that matter, it wouldn't contradict the former statement to say, "I am smarter than you." I have no doubt both my owner and I are smarter than some people here (and very possibly less intelligent than others), but that doesn't mean those people aren't our equals as human beings. As a lawyer, my owner almost certainly knows more about the law than most people here; as a classical singer, I almost certainly sing better than most people here - and, conversely, as a rather out-of-shape, quite tiny female, I have no doubt that I can't lift as much weight as most people here. None of those things make anyone here any less my equal or his.

You can certainly disagree with my owner's evaluation of the correspondence between melodrama and inexperience, but it would seem to make more sense to actually address why you think his perception is inaccurate rather than calling names.

Well, you're certainly entitled to doubt him, seeing as all you have is the word of a couple of strangers on the internet. You should hear him ramble on about the Constitution sometime, though - it's pretty persuasive. ;)

i certainly have no reason to doubt your lifestyle or your professions. one would pause to think that, with his level of intelligence, he would also take into consideration that not everyone is as articulate as he, considering many lawyers do have that "gift of gab" and , as my grandfather used to put it their "fast talkin ways".

I have to say, "fast talkin ways" may rapidly become my new favorite expression.

Such statements are unverifiable, and to sling about claims of greater education and knowledge in order to obtain "respect" on an anonymous internet forum is, frankly, elitist and lame.  I could claim that I was a principal actor in the largest successful class action lawsuit on behalf of migrant farm workers in the history of the US, or that I took a world-famous Julliard grad on a date earlier this year to a Bobby McFerrin concert, the concert being her idea because she had performed in an orchestra he conducted.  Am I telling the truth?  It's irrelevant.  What matters is whether I am posting things that help people.

It is not impressive to think you're owed something because you went to school, and it's not wise to think you're better than other people because you're good with written words.

The really funny thing is, the only person here who keeps harping on my education is....you.  I haven't used it to justify any argument.  I haven't claimed I have any particular knowledge because of it.  I haven't even mentioned it in the slightest, until YOU questioned my username.  And, in fact, my profession and education would have never even come up in this thread except for the fact that YOU raised the topic that required me ot bring it up to answer YOUR question, which basically was "do you think you are god, or is another poster being unfaithful?".

And for someone so very very concerned with "helping people", why have the last several posts from you been dedicated to bitching at me?  You don't like my style?  You find me arrogant and condescending?  That's ok.  I can live with that.  But I wonder then, what's worse, the arrogant and condescending guy, or the guy who spends all his time whining about how arrogant and condescending he is?
