Yea, even if she wants to run in 2012, it makes little sense to resign as Gov.  at the end of the month.  I can't think of anyone who resigned their office simply to run in the next election for another office

If she 'did' try and run in 2012, I can just see the headlines now "Couldn't last as governor, now she wants to be president."

I would lay odds that someone had something against her and made her a deal. "get your ass outta office and we will keep this quiet"

I just would love to know what that something was. The Vanity Fair piece was an excellent read. I am so SO glad that woman didn't get a chance at the White House.

I'm going with the conspiracy theory here.  No one can possibly be that dumb to think that resigning from office is a good political move.

Did I miss something about her being a lame duck? Did Alaska just elect a new governor?

Elect, no. But they have a new one now, it seems. The ditz has left the building. [sm=applause.gif][sm=applause.gif][sm=applause.gif]

It's always interesting to read what the soft-headed, dull, bitter liberals on here (such as you, thatdamnedpanda) have to say about a classy lady like Sarah Palin.

Her announcement wasn't rambling at all. She has more class and dignity in her little finger than any Democrat on the national scene.

Democrats in Alaska, what few there are, have been harassing her with one ethics complaint after another, all of which distract from her ability to do her job as governor, and more importantly, waste precious tax dollars and human resources. But then, that is a typical liberal ploy. She is simply unwilling to allow those liberal simpletons to continue to waste her time, money and energy (and that of the state of Alaska) by filing endless moronic ethics complaints (all of which have been tossed out after being reviewed as being groundless).

In other words, she is a true public servant, who is willing to step down for the good of her state, although she is well loved there. You see, thatdamnedpanda (and other dull liberals who irrationally hate this woman), she actually sees herself as someone who cares for her state and the resources thereof - that is, the tax payer's money - and would rather step down than allow those same dim-witted and hate-filled liberals to waste precious dollars on frivolous political attacks.

Of course, I don't expect liberals to understand that kind of integrity, and that's why you claimed she was "rambling". She was focused, coherent and dignified, and unlike the clown in the white house, she spoke off the cuff, without notes, and no teleprompter.

I'd like to see Obama give any kind of statement or speech without his precious little teleprompter to tell him what to say.

God bless Sarah Palin, a true American and genuine stateswoman.

servantforuse -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/3/2009 4:09:02 PM)

When everyone in this Country gets tired of the tax increases that will affect all of us, she will look very good compared to a socialist like Obama. Why are those on the 'left' obsessing about her? They are worried. Otherwise they would let it lie..They can't...

DomKen -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/3/2009 4:11:21 PM)

It's strange how using a teleprompter has somehow become a sin. Apparently it was sometime after the "great communicator."

What's more interesting, or amazing, is that you find her to be a classy lady.

That's mind-boggling.

Be honest now, your post was a joking post...wasn't it?

A sentence that reaffirms the view  that the U.S. is undergoing a terminal decline vis a vis  worldwide  importance and meaningful thinking.

Worried?!? About as worried as we are about any other comedic figure. I feel bad for anyone dellusional enough to think Sarah Palin is worthy of being worried about.

I really thought this was bot-generated, due to the repeated references to dull, bitter liberals.

If there's one 'liberal' on these boards who's ready to cross the aisle, it's Panda. In fact, sometimes I think he goes a little too far in his earnestness. So, you really ought to educate yourself before making such an uneducated statement about an individual whom you obviously know nothing about. Or: where ad hominem comes to bite you in the ass.

As for your describing Palin as a 'classy lady', it just demonstrates that one cannot argue taste [8D] .

LMAO! Her being a genuine stateswoman being the reason why she's giving up midway through her tenure as governor.

Frikkin hilarious [:D] .

I have been fortunate enough to meet both Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton. I can tell you which one was a hillbilly and it wasn't Sarah. It was the hick from Arkansas...
