While the fonts do tend to cross my eyes, thank you for explaining why you do it, its makes sense now.

If breaking a post down the way you do with colors and fonts help you keep up perhaps you can write it that way then just highlight it all and change the font and color to make it easier on other posters eyes. Far be it from me to take away a process due to sight problems that creates some of the thought provoking posts you do make, but just an idea where you could perhaps do both.

I think your posts are great content wise.  I enjoy reading what you post which has nothing to do with how you present it.
If I didnt like them I would roll past them, but I love reading what you have to say.

That and your funny as hell

I also have vision problems, very little in the left eye, so the light colors are impossible to read as is the smaller size font.

This is also why I skip all the lines I do. And keep email and writing short and sweet.

I usually have to proofread stuff more than once for the same reason.

We do the best we can, however we can because there usually is much of value here.

I realize now it is somewhat of a selfish reason to ask for what I did..

I am going blind in the left eye and often do not realize how big I make my posts and I apologize.
I also use  color to see what I have written..again the eye sight.

I will see what I can do..then again..maybe quibble and drivel and e.e.
channelings are not worth reading anyway

ty you all.

as a note ..I get just as many messages about liking my posts...about 4 a day...as not..wheather content or the color etc..

Either way, it seems a bit odd that you would sit there on your high and mighty horse, complaining about the 'format' of other postings, when you have yet to graduate past the first grade stage yourself.

Yep......... my post sounds pretty high and mighty

How ironic to read an opinion about a person
from someone whose posting meter looks like a channeling of episodes of Sienfield..

but then again  it is all pointless..because our existence is....?

We are not insignificant.  Our opinions are, yes... but our actions are not.  We can bring about joy, despair, beauty, and horror, on both a small and a grand scale.

It is not a small thing to touch the life of another.

Having read thru this thread, I agree that I am annoyed at the poor usage of paragraphs as well as the lack of proper grammar and spelling by many. I also agree with Savage about centered text being inappropriate (except for headlines).

I will however offer a couple simple solutions and suggestions for those that are grammatically and visually challenged.

First, for those that are poor spellers. CM does have a built in spell check. If you haven't figured it out yet, it's that little red underline that you see when you are typing. It is telling you that you have misspelled a word. It is also possible that you correctly spelled whatever word and it is not in CM's dictionary. However, if it is a common word take a couple extra seconds to look it up and/or fix it.

Second, unfortunately CM does not have a built-in thesaurus, so give some common sense thought to the usage of: there, they're & their - to, too, & two - where, wear, were, & we're.

Finally, for those of you who are visually challenged, a couple of simple tips. When creating your posts, type them out in a size and color that suits your need, but before you hit the post button, change the size and color to something that the vast majority consider to be normal. I also assume that you must have an equally difficult time reading posts of others if it is smaller text. To correct this problem, hold down your Control Key and scroll your mouse wheel. This will allow you to zoom in and out on most things.

If CM has a spell check that underlines wrongly spelled words, could you point out where one would get this because I get no underlined words in red when typing a post and misspelling words.  I just checked by deliberately doing so on a couple words adn nope -- no read underlined words.  Maybe you have a browser one?

I'm pretty sure the spell-check is browser specific, and not site specific.

Firefox has the spell check.   Tho- when I try to add a new word it doesn't work.    One nice thing about variety of posts- is that even if a post is hard to understand, it is an expression of a thought.    One that doesn't  requite an editor from New York, or Washington to approve.

Roll with the flow... user content will always trump the content of the grid.  :-)

I'd just like to make a point here if I may.

I understand the point the OP was making, assuming that she was referring to the 'stream of conscience' postings where you get a few hundred words in a block of text and where the author isn't bothered enough to organize their thoughts and content into something more readable even for those who don't have visual difficulties and who do have an education.

I refused to jump on the OP because (1) I appreciate her presence on these boards and the contributions she makes to many threads and (2) I'm well enough educated to be able to read and recognize my own native language irrespective of how it is organized, whether it be prose, verse, the way the OP presents her thoughts or even arranged in stanzas or sonnets using the Iambic pentameter. It doesn't matter what colour it's written in either as long as the contrast is there and it doesn't take much to work out that the OP is somewhat creative and artistic. I didn't need the explanation of her sight difficulties to think or feel this way.

I'm also bearing in mind the nature of this website and this audience. Maybe it's just me, I don't know, but I bolded the part above to show the even bigger irony.

This leads me to wonder whether we should follow through on this advice and taking it a step or two further, somehow change or modify our kinks so that the vast majority consider them to be 'normal'?

You may be right about that. I thought it was a CM feature, perhaps it is my browser, I use Firefox. I don't blog on any other sites so I assumed it was a CM feature.

In checking before I posted this, yes, Firefox does have built in spell check. I also checked IE and see that it is lacking a built in spell check.

Apologies for the misleading assumption above. (hmmmm....now if I can just get everyone to use Firefox)

No, I think we should all adhere to our own sense of individuality. The burden should always be on the reader.
