ORIGINAL: Arpig False. This is neo-con claptrap. Whever believes this knows nothing about liberalism, and based on your comment about government control, I include you among thosewho know nothing about liberalism, either classical or modern. You ignorance and adherance to the party line is showing. Well that is very interesting, Arpig. I'll have to include you among those who keep their heads in the grand idealism of liberal thought, without ever glancing at the practical applications. I think we may be on different pages for our definition of "liberalism," because if you wish to make a case that governments which seek to directly involve themselves in the lives of the citizens are not taking control, that might not go well. I'm talking about the activities and policies easily classed as liberal/progressive in the United States over the last 40-ish years. I suppose we could try and figure out, at least, if we are speaking of social liberalism, or fiscal liberalism. I'd love to see a good explanation, in plain English, of how raising taxes, and the cost of doing business, helps get business back up and running. How a good socially liberal policy, like hate-crime laws, aren't actually thought-crime laws... Fuckit. G'night
