Weren't you paying attention? Falwell and his Moral Majority were major supporters of Reagan.

Last time I checked....Clinton didn't run against Ronald Reagan.

Falwell and Robertson endorsed both Bush I and Dole. No major RR figure ever endorsed Clinton.

I can't think of any reason to debate you on this....considering it's true.

So why did you claim the RR supported Clinton in the first place?

You may want to re-read my posts.

They refer to Ronald Reagan....as did your arguments.

? Here you talk about Clinton and Rove (by inference the 2000 election campaign).

Maybe it was a smidge beyond a decade, however, Clinton manipulated that group for all it was worth.

One of the biggest items on Rove's agenda back in '98 was indeed, getting the Christians, who had up until then been largely in the Dems pocket, into Carl's.

And he got 'em.

Your initial post claimed the RR supported the Democrats a decade ago. Which was no where near Reagan term.

So, the christians have a "left" and "right" but no "middle" or "independant" wing?
Don't they realize that there are more Independants in the U.S. than Dems or Repubs?

I don't recall saying that (it may very well be what you read...but it isn't even remotely what I wrote)....I said quite distinctly; Christians.

And they (not Falwell or Roberts, as you have more than multiple times restated and I most heartily agree) supported Clinton....religiously.

Well If I misread your original post, in which teh word christians never appears, you didn't make things any clearer when you supported your assertion by claiming Rove's strategy had someone involved the group in question. Rove never made the slightest attempt to reach out to the christian left all he ever did was promulgate the 'one true scotsman' fallacy every time a christian disagreeed with him on religious grounds.

I think I was fairly clear...and my references were equally clear...(your spelling is somewhat questionable)...you're rambling.

I wonder as to your assumptions.

WTF? What assumptions?

Are you actually lumping all christians into the group that rove courted? I'm no fan of christianity but do at least respect that some, perhaps most, do not support Rove, Bush Robertson etc..

I don't think I was unclear at all....you suggested that Ronald Reagan was the Demon....further, that the Religious Right ("RR") was all encompassing....moreover that Ronald Reagan was the ongoing political monster that proved some entity that we should all be watching out for.

I simply said that....Clinton worked the masses.  And he won.

(Is there any lack of clarity here?)

I never ever said the RR was all encompassing. I made a clear seperation between the christian right and left in the post you initially responded to. Clinton never won the evangelicals.

As to Reagan he was a disaster for this nation. The immense deficits, deregulation, politization of judicial appointments, the culmination of the Nixon southern strategy, negotiation with terrorists, his unforgiveable retreat from Beirut and attempted distraction with Granada are simply the most obvious of his many and myriad failings.

No single president, even including GWB, has ever done as much harm to this nation as Reagan.
