What a delightful topic! Thank you KoM for giving me the opportunity to think of everything in my life that gives me such joy. First and formost, I think the people we have in our lives and the relationships we build with them, are the most important. I could just go to work, do my job, then come home. But instead I have become friends of sorts, with the guys I work with, and many of my companies customers also. I could also have a different family dynamic, but I don't want anything less than I have. My adult children, their children, my siblings, father, they are too important to me and what I want my life to be. They enrich my life and I hope to god I reciprocate in some way for them. Over the years I have made a concentrated effort to have a huge big full life that has nothing at all to do with work. My family is an important part of that, as are my furry babies. Even my home, the decor, the art, the plants, gardens outside, even the location and view, feed my soul. I love doing artistic things, painting, photography, sculpture, writing, gardening, cooking.......for me, to give me joy. It is a bonus that others enjoy most of it also. Quite often it is little things like, having my favourite coffee beverage, or the perfect sheets on the bed. My favourite soft blanket to curl up in on the big leather sofa. Watching movies, listening to music. Sitting outside on the patio wrapped in blankets, watching fireworks with a 5 and 6 yo, ohhh and awwwing like a kid. Doing sparklers with them. Enjoying watching the doe and fawn I saw, just as the sun was coming up, in the orchard this morning. Looking forward to the fresh biscuits I am getting ready to make, real butter melting into their flaky warmth with cool homemade strawberry preserves on top. Laughing WITH people I love. Taking a road trip, when I really cannot afford it, just to hang out with people I love, for a week. I have a love of learning and exploring. Trying new things, meeting new people, visiting new places. Travel would be my biggest splurge if there was the money to do so. None of the above are needs to sustain life. Many are things I never thought I would have. Many are things I've just been wonderfully blessed with, like the 5 and 6 yo, or the artistic abilities. And many are things I purposely have obtained (like this comfy sofa and uber soft blanket). And many things that enrich my life, I could easily do without, like my sparklies or the cafe au lait. But all are aspects of my life, that enrich it and together makes it unique to me.
