Personality of course, sense of humour and a filthy mind (you know who you are ... )

Pirate

I do NOT have a filthy mind... (well, not usually.. you must bring it out in me....)

For me, personality, sense of humor, intelligence, self-confidence.

Ok, and the bald head, and understanding that I am owned by the cats (and being ok with that!!) doesn't hurt either!!  LOL

I'd say your new pictures  constitute their very own definition of "sexy." And I'd be willing to bet I'm not alone.

GreedyTop -> RE: What is sexy? (7/15/2009 11:51:34 PM)

you are a sweet talker :) *hugs and smooches*

DemonKia -> RE: What is sexy? (7/16/2009 1:00:37 AM)

  • Mutual desire.

  • The afore-mentioned, ineffable, & oh-so-eloquently discussed chemistry.

  • Kinkiness.

  • The usual suspects: honesty, positive attitude, hard working, smart enough, funny . . . . .

  • I do like pretty, but that's so much in the eye of the beholder: for instance, I think Paul Krugman's adorable & sexy & way more desirable than a whole stack of obvious eye-candy . .. . .

The rest is pretty malleable . .. . .

RCdc -> RE: What is sexy? (7/16/2009 1:26:29 AM)

Passion.  Ego.  Vulnerability.
Kindness. Kinkiness.  Strong arms and warm hands.
Artistically minded and gifted, insanity and authority.
A strong and well define neck and throat with a pronounced adams apple.
Deep voice.  An accent.  A deep and entrancing stare and a love of music.
And a connection.

Yeah, but you don't always consciously recognize what the reasons are, because they're often vibrating at a frequency too low or too high for the human mind to hear. Only the heart can hear it. I've long since given up trying to explain what makes someone "click" for me; I've finally come to accept that I'll never know for sure, and that it really doesn't matter. If it's there, it's there, and if it ain't there it ain't never gonna be there. I don't care what else is there; if the click isn't happening, nothing else is happening either. I don't care how much i like someone, i don't care how beautiful she is, I don't care how wonderful a person she is, if the chemistry isn't right, we can never be happy together.

oceanwinds -> RE: What is sexy? (7/16/2009 8:33:37 AM)

The eyes and the smile are the first thing that attracts me.A high degree of intelligence is way up there. few in my path of life have shown this. Intelligence which is subtle and they do not debate or argue to hear their voice. The need to use big words is to me a dictionary, which contains knowledge but not knowing. It is two differnt things. The ones i now believe totally in themself and do not need to pound on another to show they they are superior in knowledge. Pounding one's chest and look at how smart i am is an instant turn off.

The heart is a involuntary muscle, about the size of your fist, designed to pump blood through the body using 4 chambers.  Our heart works if we desire it to or not, it simply does not give a shit.  The heart knows nothing of love, happiness or emotion - it simply has not evolved in this fashion - this is a medieval misunderstanding

What we can change, understand and enjoy are our thoughts, our ideas, our ability to communicate.  Becoming more sensual, playful or informed.
Many have expressed: Intelligence, Passion, Humor, Pride and strength.  These all fall within the realm of the mind.  Possibly ancient Egyptians believed this had something to with a heart.  Since that ancient time we have now learned to understand this is simply untrue.

The thumping of the heart is one of the major systems which keeps us alive.  I understand the metaphysical connection people wish to make.  However, it is just a lazy view of looking at things.

Why not really question ourselves and demand answers?  Being open and honest with ourselves is so much more fun - who more important to be honest to?

DemonKia -> RE: What is sexy? (7/16/2009 11:15:07 AM)

Seriously? No metaphor allowed? Bwahahahaha . . . . . Tell the OP about what's sexy, but only in the most literal of senses cuz the OP doesn't like / get / appreciate / legitimize / dignify metaphors?

People have been using metaphors to describe ineffable & concrete experiences for thousands of years, & I doubt that's stopping anytime soon . . . .. Even on this thread, & even after you chide them repeatedly . . . . . &, last time I looked, there are no metaphor dictators, nor thread emperors, & so I don't think you're gettin' either job no matter how much you audition for 'em . . . .

*walks off laughing, shaking head, pauses*

ETA: & did you really jus' call most fiction writers & nearly every poet 'lazy' for using metaphor? You crack me up . . . . .

*wanders off, whistling, chuckling*

Lazy? I suppose it depends on how you look at it. Our language is pretty limited when it comes to describing love sometimes. We've discussed that issue here on the forums in the past.

Now sexy, that's usually a whole different thing. There are a lot of people I find sexy that I don't, and probably couldn't, love. They don't touch my heart....[:D]...just my hormones. Most of the people that I love, that have touched my heart, I don't find sexy at all.

And that, is for me, honesty. I have tried to quit questioning myself. Instead I watch myself, and occasionally self correct. I am dedicated to living a life open to learning while maintaining my core integrity. None of that has anything to do with sexy, at least not in the context you brought to this thread.

There are even people that I find sexy as hell, AND love, that I know without a shadow of a doubt I could not have a 24/7 relationship with. At least not right now. THAT is honesty.
